This thread reminds me....my 1999 is about to turn 20 years old in July. I was 32 when I bought this car. **** I'm old!

Should I sell it for $100 million or keep it?

I think I'll keep it. No accidents but it has killed at least 4 birds and ran over one squirrel already. Birds love to fly into the hood scoop for some damned reason.

When I was car shopping last year I was looking for a Forester XT. The most typical example I found was a 2004 running full stage 2 mods with no tune. 175k on the chassis, 25k on the fourth shortblock. $8000, firm, no lowballers.

I also found an 08 FXT with ~55k in Chicago. STI interior swap, Stage 2, WRB, and only $26,500.

I sold my 05 FXT in a day. Manual, limited, black, stock, 141k mikes. For $5100. It needed a little work, but ran and drove fine.

An engine with 1,000,000 miles just means it's super reliable.

I kind of want to go look at this car just to hear the absurd story that led to it existing.

I’m also very confused. If he pulled the orange parts off a WRX sedan (I think there was an orange one), wouldn’t the rear door driver door have the flare built in? Why stop where he did if he was just plastidipping all the panels orange if that is the original rear door?

Bonus points for the roof rack with a faring and no attachments. Apparently aftermarket roof rack/crossbars are a fashion accessory now because it seems like every rally armor bro WRX I see has vestigial Thule or Yakima setups.

I thought the orange version was a special edition or something.

The orange one wasn't until 2013. Looks like he started wrapping it and gave up

$20,000 seems steep for a bugeye wagon with 13 year old parts, a random CEL, and a blown then rebuilt engine.

That would be a reasonably good deal at $10k. If he has the stock parts hanging around, he really needs to be selling off all the high dollar stuff to get anything back on this car.
