I was able to push the tabs from the inside of the bumper cover to release the foglight housing. I was having problems trying to pry from the outside. I could have done it, but I was too chicken to mar any of the surfaces.

I installed the ebay overlays on my sport premium, and didn't have to remove the housings at all since there was enough of a gap between the bulb and the housing to slip the overlay between. With the bulb and overlay wet, it was easy to slide the overlay around until it totally covered the visible part of the bulb. I think the limiteds have some chrome trim around the bulb so my approach might not be possible with them.

Anyone use their new Impreza for about 80% or more freeway? My new job requires a long (50 mile each way) commute, so I'd like to upgrade from my current classic Impreza. Does the highway MPG live up to it's advertised one of 36 MPG?

HWY MPG is good to great (some people want higher than the EPA numbers -- I've seen 37-38mpg on the highway over 10 mile stretches, but that is when already up to speed and driving sub 70mph with the cruise on and the AC off). I think with a car broken in on the highway you will see good numbers. Also I have a 5speed (HWY rating is 33MPG for my car), most people complaining have the CVT with the 36MPG rating. |

From my limited freeway experience with the car, 36 mpg is very achievable on flat terrain and steady speeds up to about 65 mph. I see you live in the SF Bay area. If your commute is anything like the freeway traffic I experienced living in Silicon Valley, it is anything but steady speeds. I doubt you'll get 36 mpg under those circumstances. You will, however, get better mpg than your current car, I would guess.

I'm seeing about a 6 MPG improvement over the 2008 OBS with the 4AT that I previously owned in mixed urban driving. Odd thing is that when looking at the in-dash display, I take a .3 MPG "hit" each time I accomplish a cold start. The in-dash display reads about 2 MPG higher than my manual calculations. Highest MPG on a long road trip (55/65 MPH on State Highways) was 38.1; manually calculated upon fill-up. Only saw this one time - drove car from house to gas station and filled it up after the blue light has gone off prior to the trip.

Can anyone with the door protection strips (the door ding protection strips mid way up each door) measure them for me, from front to back, both the front door and back door? I would like to know how long each section is on the new impreza. I have a set for the previous gen, wondering if the lengths are the same. The new body style looks like a smaller piece on the rear door.

Probably won't see 36 unless you drive 60mph nonstop on a tank. I commute 30 miles each way at 55-65mph, and drive 90% highway overall. I get about 32mpg, and have 1800 miles on the odometer. Supposedly it may get better after higher mileage.

I also switched over to Amsoil Supergear in the differentials and added a Perrin foam filter. If you don't see big changes, you can try those upgrades also. |

Thanks everyone for their replies. I've been toying around with the idea of either getting a hybrid (Prius, etc.), the Impreza, or a Mazda 3. I really want a hatchback for the practicality and versatility. I do want AWD for those times that I'll be heading up to the snow though.

That seems to be the consensus around here. I'd love to hear people reporting what MPG they get after they complete the break in period. |

Helps me VERY much. Thanks a ton. Last generation moldings are 39 1/2 and 23 1/2....so they will work on the newer body style. I have 2 cars on order, a 2012 WRX and a 2012 Impreza 5 door...and I have 2 sets of door moldings....so now I don't have to buy the other set that might have been specific for the 2012 5 door. The surfaces are flat where the moldings go, so it will work out fine, It will look a tad different, but I feel it is still possible...unless the dealership will allow me to trade out the one set for the new body style. Again, thanks for measuring for me...I appreciate it. Once both cars are in, I will be seeing if the suspensions match up...I feel they won't as subaru changed the rear set up to make for more trunk room with less invasive strut towers in the rear. We will see though...both cars are scheduled for delivery in 2 weeks...then the projects begin :-) |

How do you import your "phone contacts" as an entire group rather than importing each individual contact one at a time?
If there is something in the manual to do this what page? |
