![]() Manual trans. Got a bad drive shaft. The U-joint at the first joint coming out of the trans is part way out. Scary.
It seems like these joints are NOT serviceable, is that correct? The whole shaft must be replaced? Also, the "rear" drive shaft, is, in fact, "the drive shaft" (aka propeller?) and is a two piece unit with a center bearing? Am I likely to do OK with one from a salvage yard or better to bite the bullet and get a Dorman or something with replaceable joints? |

![]() You could get a salvage one but I would recommend the new option depending on.your budget at the moment

The salvage yards around here all wanted top dollar for units over 200,000 miles, or rusty crusty's with bad center bearings and suspiciously "loose" grease. One private seller claiming a low mileage unit, never found the time to bother pulling it after jerking me around for days. |
