![]() Bought my car with a tubular manifold so i never got to see the stock manifold o2 sensor location.
It's currently in one of the manifolds runners what i was wondering is if it should be in the downpipe right after the turbo which make's more sense to me ?

![]() I have an aftermarket downpipe on my EJ20G that has a bung in it. I put the O2 sensor there in the DP. It just seems like a more logical place for it. I know it's just a narrowband sensor, but O2 sensors are more accurate when not subjected to pre turbo exhaust pressure. It's also less likely to get damaged by road debris in the DP, unlikely I know, but it happens. Mine runs fine with it moved to the DP, no issues.

![]() I thought the reason they had it in the manifold is because its a lot closer to where the action is, and since its only used for idle/cruise feedback a) there isn't as pressure at these operating points when the sensor is actually used and b)it can respond a lot faster to needed changes.
Although everything is happening fast enough I can't see having it in the downpipe being an issue. |
