![]() I took my 04 WRX in there last week for synchro noise when shifting from first to second. Their explanation - it's normal "turbo noise". Right.
I hate being treated like an idiot. I didn't even bother to argue it because at least it's documented in case I have a problem. It seems a few people have this noise and don't have any problems. Anyway. I have Prodrive P1's and want to mount new tires on them. I called Goldstein and they say "we can't do 17 inch rims" How do they handle STI's then? It just dumbfounds me. This place will never see my business again. I had a friend call back to see if they'd give him a hard time about the rims and he heard the previous person I'd spoken to flipping out in the background "I ALREADY TOLD THAT KID NO!!!!" It's not like I'm asking him to mount 20 dub spinners. I am asking him to mount and balance tires on the most popular rim for subarus out there. Thumbs DOWN.

![]() Impreza2003,
Just be careful. The guys at the parts counter didn't know the difference between the WRX spoiler and the STI spoiler. Seriously. I ended up getting my tires mounted and balanced at APG on Central ave. 18 each wheel. Not bad considering GoodYear on Wolf Road wanted 35 a tire.... By the way, I work at SUNY--you might see my WRX around. |

![]() yeah, the guys at goldstein aren't very modded-car friendly....I go there every once and a while and tell them I need warrenty service (my car IS still under warrenty) and they just flip out, lol
APG does good tire mounting and balancing, and 18/tire isn't awful. |

![]() Goldstein SUCKS. Their sales staff dicked me around when trying to buy a leftover '04 WRX, and then tried to sell me a "new" one with over 300 miles on it. The parts clerk was totally inept in trying to find me a part for my RS, as well. These guys are BONEHEADS.

![]() Wow, timmah I posted on UNYSOC that Goldstein sucks and I'll never go there again, but that was before I even looked at this thread. Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience there. I won't go there for service, to tell the truth I don't know why I bought my car there because I bought another car there a few years ago and THAT was a nightmare. I'll take my car to either Advantage or North Country for service, even though North Country is a drive and a half, I hear it's more than worth the drive.
![]() I never had a problem at advantage w/ my older Subaru (88 XT6) but that's so long ago I wouldn't really remember. I've only been there once so far with my new car (for the cruise control recall, get that done if you havent already) and that went very well and they were super duper nice... so yeah. that being said, congrats on the new car ![]() |

![]() Hey all, new member here. I just needed to chime in about Goldstein.
I recently bought an Outback Sport (awesome car, i love it) from Goldstein, and.... oh my god. Talk about incompetent. Now, I am not a resident of New York, but I am living here. I had a lot of qustions about registering out of state, and they answered them promply and politely. However, almost every answer they gave me was WRONG... instead of asking me or telling me they didnt know (which would have been fine), they just gave me answers, causing this transaction to DRAG for weeks. Also, the dealership's treatment of me has varied. Some days, they are very nice, other times they basically tell me to f*ck off. The secretary has hung up on me several times, and the financial guy there is a real jerk. And, I feel like the salespeople there aren't very knowledgable. They couldn't explain to me the differences between an Impreza 2.5RS and an Outback Sport, so I had to do all the research myself. Bottom line, this dealership does NOT have it together. I understand the kind of transaction I wanted to perform wasnt exactly standard, but there are ways of getting the right answers and making the customer happy, but they did not do that. Whew.. what a rant. |

![]() Im a sock,
Welcome :-) I am a newb myself. I'm glad to see this thread is getting more and more responses---then people like us won't bother taking our cars there for service. I wonder if I should bother reporting them to SOA? Don't know if that would accomplish anything, but this place is ridiculous. |

![]() Well it appears there are several good dealerships around the capital region..
Capitaland in glenville is supposed to be good and my car and it's whine noise will be going there soon. Goldstein was just more convenient, it's literally 5 minutes from where I live. My girlfriend lives near Capitaland, but then she has to truck me back to albany. Action subaru is supposed to be good too. Just stay away from those morons at Goldstein. |

![]() Here's a hint..
Goldstein isn't one of them. Honestly, see if anyone locally is selling a used one. I got my 04 with pretty much everything...for 19k, from someone on here who wanted an STI. |

![]() Just to add another "Me too" to this thread, Goldstein is a bunch of c0cksuckers. I went there looking to buy an STi, and they treated me like I was some 16yr old kid out looking for a joyride. I ended up getting my STi from Capitaland in Glenville and they've been taking excellent care of me. Everyone there is super nice, and they're more than willing to answer any questions you have. Hell, they threw in two tire changes for me when I bought me car, just because I asked.
Goldstein = 0 Capitaland = 1 Oh yeah, and I found out from the salesman at Capitaland that they don't have ANY dealings with Goldstein. Apparently they're dicks to the other dealers too. PS-The link for unysoc doesn't seem to be working. |

![]() Hooked me up with the best deal around on my new WRX S/W. I travelled all the way from CT 'cause they met my price. Keep a close eye on all the paperwork though. We came across (my wife and I) over 10 mistakes on the documents before we signed. Don't know about there service though.....
