Why do you think it won't turn out how you want it?

its not that i dont have the money for this. it is if i dont put a cap on myself ill blow ALL my money and then end up with a track car... all by accident.

or ill mod it to the point of needing to spend $ to make sure the car can hold as much HP as i put into it. not what i want

Are you a recovering mod-a-holic or something?

Won't a mbc get you into lean conditions before a cai? I always thought your maf would tell your ecu that the engine is getting more air? And then making required changes?

Any thoughts on first *simpler* performance Mods for a 2011 WRX?

Unibomber had these suggestions:

(1) Exhaust - Eventually, but I don't have $1000+ available (I just bought a new car ;-)
(2) Intercooler Hoses - Can't find any that fit my car online
(3) Uppipe - My research seems to show limited benefit for my car
(4) Intake - Requires tuning on my car, thus not that simple
(5) Engine Management - Possible - I don't have any mods to manage yet, but I could probably tweak factory settings

This thread was started 5 years ago. Any new thoughts on beneficial first mods?

^ The same things still apply. The engines didn't change much.

BTW. Did you do suspension yet? I really think suspension and braking should be dealt with before working on power. And it's a new car... most of the stuff you'll do like this will void the warranty.

I am still a noob to the tuning world of Subaru even though I've owned my WRX for 6 years. I was reading the post and had a question about the intercooler piping. I am getting a Cobb AP and was wondering what the dangers were of running these bolt on parts with a stage 1 OTS map. Also wanted to know what the dangers are when running a gutted uppipe and 3" downpipe to stock exhaust and a stage 2 OTS map. I appreciate the help

You need to read the sticky threads in the AccessPORT forum along with 100% of the Cobb documentation available from their website.
