My gear shifter has been having a hard time getting out of brake. Traction control ABS and descent light have also been. Found what I believe to be the culprit, a failing brake light switch. Ordered STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS SLS 186 (Rock Auto) as the replacement. Pulled old one out and it was a Niles (Nissan) PA66GF33. So needles to say I’m stuck. Why would this be a Nissan part? And this will fix my problem correct? |

![]() The Nissan part is the OEM Subaru part. It also failed - A LOT. Subaru had a recall for this issue https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/201...9V149-9018.pdf
If the recall has not been performed on your car you could have gotten this fixed for free. Read the linked recall - it will tell you the proper method to get the switch adjusted correctly. Oh yeah, Forgot to add - yes, if you brake light switch is bad it will cause that problem. Last edited by Elbert Bass; 01-15-2022 at 06:52 PM. |
