![]() Even if this Corolla GR were to be fitted with the entire drivetrain from the GR Yaris I am not interested. Too big of a car for this setup.

![]() If Subaru is going sedan again, and Toyota is offering an AWD hot hatch, the world will have truly turned in on itself.

![]() ![]() Compelling doesn't translate just because. You'd think Toyota would have learned from the 86 and Supra. |

Unless they can cut 600lbs out of the GR Corolla Hatch to make it the same weight as the GR Yaris, or make the Corolla an honest too goodness STi fighter, it's just not going to be anything other than a slap in the face or salt in a wound from Toyota. For clarification I'm talking the speculated next gen STi on the SGP with an updated engine (FA24DIT), not the old chassis & EJ combo currently available. |

![]() The lack of AWD is a bigger nut kick than the slightly higher weight/slower acceleration. There's clearly scope for a car that sits right in the middle of a Civic SI and Type R in the domain of price/performance/practicality.
The Corolla might be the car to plug that hole or it might be total ****. In either case, it's a lot less cool than the Yaris. |

![]() Speaking of Gazoo, couldn't figure this out until I read that it was suppose to be "Gazoh"
Gazoh means image/picture in Japanese.. they spelled using two o's instead of 'oh' at the end so now people pronounce it 'ga zoo' which sounds stupid. Like Impul.. which is pronouced 'Inparu' in Japan. Worse is Bride. 'buri doh' in Japanese. Collora 'schittola' in Japanese. ok made that one up. |

![]() Yeah, if Americans were open to paying top dollar for tiny cars, you could've had yours. I remember buying a Cooper-S back 18 yrs ago and someone was surprised I paid ~$30K 'for that tiny thing'.
It had the JCW aero kit and some other options on there so it was a tad more than a normal Cooper-S, but to me it was all worth it. |

It's not a tiny car. A Smart car is a tiny car. Americans by and large are just fat, obesity is the #1 killer in the US now. That's why they buy large(r) vehicles. Miata is small, it's imported here, and sells. There literally is no excuse. Just some executives and marketing people at Toyo USA that should be fired. |

I don't want a car that is comparable to a WRX. I want a newer version of what they used to call a pocket rocket, like what they called a 2004 STI. It was a 300HP AWD Rally car for the street and weighed 3,263lbs. Toyota just built that with the GR Yaris, it was built and engineered from the ground up and it is similar in dimensions as the old GD STI. But now it weighs 400lbs less in hatch form, which has shorter overhangs with a longer wheel base than the GD STI. This is why I don't want a bigger bloated ass Corolla. I would love it if Subaru would make another car the size of the GD WRX/STI. Yes bring them up with better interior and all of that, but these cars are getting too big. ![]() Isn't the Corolla hatch significantly larger than a Yaris? The point why we are interested in this 3 door is because of its small demeanor.. if AWD and power is what we just want out of a sports compact, I already have 3 of them... and one is a boxy hatch. STI/WRX/Golf-R. I don't need another one.

![]() Just like they did with the WRX, a minimum 400 lbs must be added to sell here.

![]() Weight will kill it. Larger and heavier car needs more power. They'll chintz and won't include the front and rear diffs. That along with the three cylinder with added weight = bull ****.

![]() No, a Yaris, which is what triggered this entire domino effect. They wanted to make major changes to their Yaris WRC car but the changes were so drastic that the FIA told them they would have to re-homologate the updated car for entry in competition by building and selling 25,000 of them. So they put the GR Yaris together.
![]() It has a 1.6l 3cyl turbo engine and AWD, both of which are passed down to this beefed up Corolla to spread the R&D and production costs out over more models with the same parts while throwing the US half a bone for not bringing the proper FIA homologation car over. |
