![]() So just as the title says, I have an engine from a totaled 08 WRX Hatch that was only installed and tuned at the beginning of this year - engine runs strong even with wrecked front suspension and no leaks. I have an opportunity to get a 08 Sedan with a great body but an oil-starved engine. In doing a transplant, is it as simple as swapping the engine (which I've done many times on all manner of Subarus and I'm fine with), but with regards to everything else: are the ECU and fuel pump the only things outside of the long block that I should be moving over? I have an Accessport with all my tunes that will stay with the engine. But does the ECU "talk" to anything else in the old car that I should remove and put into the new body?
Thanks in advance, Geoff

![]() Everything should swapp over, if you swapp the ecu you will have to swapp the immo chip from new ecu to old one. Or you could flash the image from the hatch to the sedan. Orrrrrr…..you could flash a sti image on there and use the merp mod sti rom for flex fuel and such. Cobb should be able to unmmarry the hatch and marry to the sedan but I have never used one to be sure.
Orrrrr, you can get a sti ecu, these davcs heads I have extra here, swapp over immo chip to the sti ecu from sedan. Then just add wires and voila davcs wrx. L |

![]() You don’t need to worry about swapping ecu, 08 wrx sedan or hatch, same exact car. First thing is divorce the accessport from your hatch so you can marry it to your sedan after you transfer the engine, fuel pump and rest of performance goodies you had on the hatch when it was tuned. It doesn’t get any simpler a swap but make sure to divorce the accessport from the hatch and confirm that in fact the accessport divorced. You must have a divorced accessport in order to marry it to your next ecu.

![]() Gentlemen, thank you for your advice. I thought that the tunes on an Accessport needed to communicate with a particular VIN contained on the ECU, but apparently not. Thanks...I'll give it a spin.

![]() UKPR1, an accessport can only be installed to one ecu at a time but it can be used on however many ECU’s you may desire. The accessport has to be divorced from any ecu before it can marry another ecu.
