Default Jpipe question (15+ WRX)

Hey everyone. I have a question regarding a jpipe. Anybody have any insight on a catted jpipe being gutted to become a non catted pipe? Have the opportunity to purchase one at a good price but have no idea if that's something usual.

You can definitely gut a cat if you choose to, but either way, buy a Jpipe, go get a tune for it, catted or catless.

Early 2000's, definitely want a tune for CATless.
Later, "should" have a tune for CATless.
No matter if you buy a CATless DP or "make your own".

Boost creep is the main issue.

I know about a tune being necessary. It's not a matter of buying a catted or catless. I just wanted to see if it's okay to buy a pipe that has been changed (used) from catted to catless. It's a good deal so that's why I'm inquiring.

Provided it is not mangled making it CATless, the ECU does not give a crap. It looks at info and boostcreep is a possible issue.
It does not know if it was made CATless or it is a gutted pipe.

Okay thank you. I am still on the stock midpipe so hopefully that'll keep the boost creep in check.
