Depending how high you go and whether you compensate by dropping the drive line or not.

I think I go through tie rod ends quickly, and since my svx and forester spring swap I think I'm stressing axle boots. Definitely considering the outback subframe spacers to drop my drive line now. Sure I lose a scosh of overall ground clearance but then I stop splitting cv boots in 5 months. . .

Ooh and sidewall damage to one tire at 30k into the set means I have to buy 4 tires, not 1or 2. . . . :-\

i want king springs with strut spacers and rear subframe spacers. im just unsure about added wear. i guess its nice i have 8.7" of ground clearance to begin with, but a little more would be great.

You'll probably have to go custom. AFAIK, you're rig has subframe spacers so you'd replace those with taller ones to compensate for whatever lift you add.

if you do JUST spacers or JUST raised springs you should be fine.
Even the OEM kings wil lift a little, i'd suggest that route over the raised prings. the raised kings will push your struts closer to max extension and if you hit air or otherwise allow them to max out, it'll be hard on them and constantly closer to max extension will wear them out sooner...

nice light bar!!

Need a profile pic to show the lift bra!!!

You should see if team dynamics 15" rally rims would fit. They clear 4 pot brakes so maybe they would... If so I know a guy who has a line on these, Subaru Rally Team spec!!
15*7 15 (maybe up to 20) offset!!

thanks on the light bar. the wheels will fit a 4th gen outback. somebody has them in oregon. i want them so bad but im buying a house right now so i have no money. i just ordered 215/70/16 grabbers and i should have them on wrx wheels hopefully by monday. i have to paint the wheels black so the wife doesn't notice. im also trading my RPF1s for the wrx wheels plus some cash so i should only be out $250 once their mounted.

if i dont like the wrx/grabber combo, my next wheelset may be team dynamic pro rally wheels or the ones you have pictured with 235/75/15 grabbers.

a taller tire wont fit the strut.

also when i have spare money i will get a 5th wrx wheel and grabber tire so i have 5 to rotate but really in case i break a wheel again. $282 for a new RPF1, no thank you!

i decided on wrx wheels so a full sized spare or breaking a wheel wont be too big of a deal. those method wheels are sweet but too much offset for me and this way i can keep the weight down(tires).

It's hard to lift a front wheel drive vehicle. The angles on the axles is the key problem.

I've got a mild lift on King stock-length springs and Primitive 1/4" rear spacers, Makes for a little less than an inch lift in front and a little more in back. I got them more for the handling without losing ground clearance, the small lift was just a bonus. Combined with STi rear sway bar and Whiteline front strut brace it's a total blast to drive on softroads around Alaska. Primitive Racing skid plates keep me from worrying too much about road debris

Over on the outback forum lots of people have done subtle lifts (2-3"). I seem to recall some people running into issues with VDC version freaking out with too much lift.

Outback Sport

Hey guys, names Tyler.

I'm new to the forum, my friends neighbor told me about the site and said you'd be able to help me out!

Anyways, I am trying to do something similar to what I've seen in this thread, so I figure why not post here. I'm driving a 2005 Outback XT,

and I would like to make it into a rally-esque endurance vehicle that I can drive cross country, and I'm hoping I can get some feedback on what i've done so far and what else you would recommend for me!

Can't wait to be a part of the community!

Here's the parts list so far:

Suspension-
KYB front struts (05-09 OB)
KYB rear struts (02.5-04 OB)
Rallitek rear springs
AVO 90mm rear end links
AVO Rear sway bar braces
AVO Rear underbody braces
AVO front Underbody braces

Brakes-
Hawk HPS brake pads all around
(debating on upgrading to slotted rotors or saving for BBK)

Roof-
Yakima Loadwarrior
Yakima roundbars (crossbars)
Yakima Rail Grab Towers
Yakima Loadwarrior extension
Custom Tool Mount (being used for a shovel currently)

Lighting-
5000k HID headlights (DRL bypass)
3000k HID foglights
white LED lighting throughout interior (just existing lights, no added strips or anything)

Other Interior bits-
JDM faceplate conversion
Pioneer Touchscreen AVH-X2600BT
JDM hazard switch (bit of a joke, its just so it matches the new faceplate)

For sale-
Purchased the Legacy window visors from Japan, somehow I ordered the ones for the legacy sedan and not the wagon. So I have the Sedan ones for sale if anyone has been looking for some that will be slightly cheaper than the ones over seas.

^^ I wouldnt really lift it. I drive a 2001 outback. I'll be installing standard height king springs, kyb struts, whiteline rear sway bar & front strut tower, Primitive triple armor kit. I may lift the front just a hair with spacers to even out the rake the car has from the factory, but that as high as i'll go. Also i want to get 16x7 et35 rpf1's to keep the factory tire size and to be able to work with the spare.

The main complaint I have with the car is the low spring rates of the factory springs.

Less is more.

Oh yeah, and you gotta get you some wicked mudflaps

I think 06 baja turbo struts and springs (maybe even just springs) would give you an inch of lift and stiffer spring rate. King "OEM" springs are stiffer and afford a little lift (whereas the "raised" springs give 2" ish lift), but are $$. Look for some baja springs (I think the 06 turbo is the biggest bang for buck), as they will probably be le$$ than kings.

You should check out Expedition Portal (for REAL overland inspiration), and dirtyimpreza.com for the real Subaru off road and rally enthusiast crowd. NASIOC is BIG, but the off-road section here is comparable tiny.

yeah, im kinda anti-sticker. i allow 2 on my car. both are made by a guy on legacygt.com. for that one i said i wanted "wagon queen family truckster" to say "rally queen family truckster." the sticker on the trunk says "because grocery getter" to explain the need for all my mods. and i had one made up that i ended up removing cause i dont like stickers.
i wanted am/pm changed to am/bm for morning bowel movement. i wouldn't take my dog to run until i had mine. maybe its karma or something that the stickers gone now, and i took a #2 in the woods, and the dog dug it up and rolled in it. my wife called me a savage and that the dog would roll it, the next day she did.

Awesome cars in this thread, love the 215/75/15 AT tires

Anyone here have a 2012+ Impreza or XV? I want to get a sedan with a subtle lift and put on those big tires, wanted to know if there were rubbing issues.
