Question Re-wiring the fog lights on WRX?

I just bought a silver WRX sport wagon, and I love it. The only aspect of the design that I don't like is that the fog lights don't work unless the headlights are on -- in other words, unusable in fog or a blizzard (since the light from the headlights will reflect back). The dealer refuses to rewire it, or even talk about how to do this.

Two questions:

1. Will rewiring the fog lights so they can be used without the headlights (and preferably so they will go off if high beams are turned on) void the warantee?

2. Any suggestions about where to get this done in the Denver, CO area? I no longer want to do through the contortions or take the time to do this myself.

Thanks,

Harrry

That's a good question. The only thing I have seen is the fogs on with highs.

Hi Harry,
Nice to see a fellow Evergreener on the forums. Were you at the Bowles Car Toys on saturday? If so, then I met you.

I haven't looked at it yet, but I might be able to come up with a wiring solution for your fog lights after a little research on the wiring diagrams. I wouldn't mind helping with the mods, if you wanted to take a stab at it yourself.

Jon - isn't the mod n wrx182 for the fogs on with the highs? Will it allow you to run just the fogs?

Hmmm, rewiring your foglights might void the warranty if there was ever a malfunction within your lighting system. Of course, they would have to find your modification.

WRXnFX1974 - i would think that at the worse, you might blow
a fuse with the fog light mod that nhluhr did - do a search on
his username and you'll find it. it's a cool site, allows you to run
the fogs _any_ time you want, and it has detailed pics.

Jon in [CT]'s links are probably just as good, but nhluhr's are fresh
in my mind, as i just saw them last week...

EDIT: harrycors, you might want to give this a try. it looks like
only 3-4 screws, 1 spliced wire, maybe 20 mins of your time...not
bad at all, imho

Is the mod procedure on nhluhr post for the 02 WRX. It looks like he did that procedure on his RS.

Naw he did it for his WRX and for my RS, the only thing is the daytime running lights come on also, so its not just on the fogs, but someone did that mod the other day, to lazy to do a search.
