It varies—electronic instant read units, cooking and internet Accuweather weather channel Siri Alexa local airport and my skin. 60 is way colder than 71 the car reads

Default '19 WRX gripes

Loving my new Scoob so far. The only real nits are interior rattles that are surprising/disappointing for a car that's 4 years into the model run.

-Rattle in the passenger door near cup holder.
-Ridiculously loud rattle from pop-up center console release button when console is in "up" position. It's quiet when down for some reason.
-Shifter knob trim ring (sits below the leather part but above the reverse lockout) is loose and freely spins, as does the "cap" at the top of the knob.

2019 STI gripes:

1. Keyless entry door unlock is a bit slower than it was on my 2016 WRX. Instead of just grabbing and opening (the door unlocks as soon as you touched it), now I have to touch and allow a milisecond for it to unlock before pulling. Not really a gripe, it doesn't bother me... just mentioning it because others have mentioned it.

2. I got a single rattle once on a cold start. Never heard it again. Maybe my kids left something jangly in the rear seats. So far so good.

3. (Should be 1): Mileage. Holy hell, I'm dying. 14 USmpg city - 21.5 USmpg highway. About 17 mixed. I'm never hyper-miling but also not always givin er. Also, my highway driving is far from flat and straight. But this car is in V6-V8 territory.

4. 1st to 2nd notchy/rough shift. Figured out how to smooth out the shifting, and got a weighted shift knob to eliminate the notchiness. I consider this solved and awesome now. Will still revise the gear oil at some point to make it even better, but right now it's totally manageable.

5. Don't like the analog clock. I never use that screen anyways.
5b. No longer have constant A/C info... gotta touch the screen or adjust something in the ac to get info on how's the A/C setup.
5c. Sun roof buttons are now swapped. Tilt and open are in a different spot vs the 2016 so I gotta get used to it.

6. Everybody wants to race the STI. I had the same color WRX (white) and it went totally under the radar. The STI makes everyone want to have some fun. Not exactly a gripe... I guess it's some people having fun and others just like the car so why not. If I don't want to race, I don't. Simple.

Because racecar?

How many miles are on your car? Engine getting broken in and tighter clearances usually mean crappy MPG, should improve in a few thousand miles/KM. Also we're spoiled with the little FA in the wrx. I still manage almost 25 mpg towing a 1000 pound trailer with my motorcycle going 250 miles.

I'm just over 1,000 mi so yeah, basically just over the break-in. I expect a bit of an improvement... but also, will likely be driving a bit harder once I do my 1st oil change in the next couple of weeks.

But yeah, was spoiled with the FA because it is quite decent. I was getting like 19 USmpg combined and got as high as ~24 on highway (with a roof rack. Havent put a roof rack on the STI yet).

I really enjoy almost everything about my 2019 WRX premium. This car is much more fun than my previous car, a 2011 Dodge Charger Hemi. My only real complaint is that from a stop, the car needs a ton of throttle to get moving some times. It’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 1/3 throttle which seems insane to me. The previous cars I’ve had with a manual trans didn’t require much throttle at all to move. Hell, I could get going just by slipping the clutch on flat ground in those cars. On a huge positive note, I’m 6’ 2” tall and have plenty of head room and leg room in the WRX. That was actually a selling point.

6'5" here, and agreed. When I started looking for a replacement for my Mustang, I was looking at combined frt and rear legroom. WRX has everything beat in the small to medium size range- only the accord has more combined room. You'd think even sport luxury cars like the ATS-V, RS-3, etc would have more room, but not by a longshot. Ooops, forgot this thread was about gripes. Man, that rear package tray is laughably cheap.

Are you on an incline, Iím thinking the hill assist is holding your brakes and thatís why it takes more throttle to get going?

That ^ plus also probably on i mode, where throttle sensitivity is dialed down. When you're in S or S# it takes a lot less throttle (pedal travel) to get going.

Interior room and overall car size were big selling points in the VA chassis for me. Lots of room, medium sized sedan.

I'm also about 6' and have tons of head room with the sunroof. Passengers sitting behind me also have very decent leg room.

JimmysRC is in a WRX? Then there is no I-mode. I think JimmysRC is engaging the clutch too low (RPM) from a stop.

The map on the WRX is quite horrible, I suggest getting the AP Stage1 at least.

Ahh you're right. No SI drive on the MT WRX...

In that case yeah, figure out precisely the clutch biting point and rev just there while releasing the clutch relatively quick. I have to drive stop+go on hills all the time. Hill hold assist is great, it throws you off until you get used to it, then it's a piece of cake.

Just curious... is yours loud as hell when it engages? The first time I heard it, I thought something broke under the hood. Reminds me of a nitrous solenoid clicking on/off.

Got my 2019 WRX premium in December and now has 4500 miles on it.

My only single major complaint was the tune it came with. Fixed that at 1000 miles.

Minor complaints would be excessive road noise. Exhaust note is just a little too quiet. I think it has good sound, just wish it was a little louder. The stock rubber should be UHP all seasons and not summer tires. I don't believe the WRX/STi is just a "sports car" it's a Rally car. It should come off the lot to handle all conditions or to make it interesting and give buyers the option to pick between 2 types of tires for their needs.

I don't share some of the complaints that other have mentioned. I like the stock HU with the car, the door speakers provide a ton of bass for being junk as long as you don't push them beyond their limits. I do feel the dash speakers could be clearer as I might just upgrade those. The handling of the car is quite impressive and more than enough for back road / daily driving. I have zero rattles as of now. The instrument cluster and info screen is fantastic. Great gas mileage with mixed driving.

^^ Muffler deletes are a quick easy way to get more sound. FA20 sounds great with deletes.

I too agree the WRX should have come with all season tires. I am currently running Prodrive wheels with DWS06 on my 19 Limited.

Yup...great tire! I'm on my second set of DWS06 on my 2005 WRX. The nameless deletes are very tempting!

The nameless ones you need to get the large diameter versions or they look too small especially at night when someone points their headlights at your car.

I've had great luck with Remark and CNT. Both fill the cut outs very well.

Yeah it sometimes makes a sound when engaging. Depends on how steep is the incline and how quickly you release the clutch. I wouldn't say it's loud as hell, but you can definitely hear it, kind of like a popping sound.

It's louder on the STI than on the WRX because of the stronger brakes...

I'll admit I'd be annoyed at over 10 degrees error

But you mean after driving right? Not just getting in the car?
Because the thing (no idea where it is btw) no doubt gets heated by the sun and always reads way high when I first get in and then drops within about a minute or two once air starts flowing over the car

That maybe the issue. I noticed the car really doesnít roll back on a hill but didnít give it much thought. Just figured it was something I wasnít used to with this car. The hill assist is a nice feature though!

Mine is a 19 WRX with HK and works perfectly fine (actually my 16 STI with HK package also works fine). There was a map update about 4-5months ago, might want to get the latest maps.

I connected the wifi and checked for updates, updated specific states and fails to calculate a route. I took it to the dealer, they even ordered and changed the head unit. Still i fails to calculate a route. My dealer is taking care of me. I was just curious if anyone else has this problem.

Maybe your sat antenna is bad? Not sure. I was not able to update via Wifi on the HU; I had to download the maps from my pc then update via SD card (maybe it was a USB, I don’t remember).
