Still Going, but time bomb!
Im running a GT3076r, FMIC, built Hyrbid swap at 480Hp, and 420tq. Whenever i do race, i smell clutch all over the damn place, but i ride the damn thing like theres no tomorrow. SO, thats working (ONLY FOR NOW) but ive had this set-up since May of last year, and no broken tranmission. In addition, I dont drive like an idiot neither. Most aggressive is Auto-X

But as long as u take car of it, no hard launches, and slamming gears and ull be fine I think.. I use to do that too but after practice launching so many times, I broke an axle (obviously), and Everytime I slam a gear my transmission has a weird weak feeling in it, which is why I don't do it, but after the car cools down it feels fine again. Question though, I have a kartboy short shifter on my 02 Wrx installed by previous owner. Yes shorter shifts I know, but will it make the transmission feel any different? Just wondering |

04 Tranny

Ive honestly never liked short shifters mainly because it would only tempt me to slam gears when racing. Im no guru, but a short shifter shouldnt make the tranmission perform any better, but allow faster shifting between gears. I know its lame, but i granny shift the living ***** out of mine... even if i did have a short shifter, id still granny shift. lol. even though id be tempted to slam. |

310 awhp/ 350 awtq
holds just fine. have done a few light launches at the track and everything has been fine. 350 tq is the "max" recommended torque. But its really up to your driving habits |

Blew my 02wrx tranny last year and my 04wrx went last week. Ive opened up both trannies and they have identical damage. 2nd gear is chewed off. what blows my mind is when the 04 went I shifted easy and was just starting to boost. Felt like I broke the drive axle when it went.
Now im just looking for some where I can send the guts of the tranny and have new stuff pressed on the shafts. No luck as of yet finding anyone. Im worried that if I buy a used tranny it wont be in much better shape. |

5 speed
jdm v7 18g 320 whp I put 30k on 5 speed , blew engine.
built the engine went rotated 30lbs 450whp 3k on trans, blew engine. built a 2.5 break in boost 300 miles took the teeth off third gear, the 5 speeds dont seem to take torque well. |

I am about to go VF39, EWG, ID1000cc blah blah blah on my 06 WRX with 117K miles on her and I can't help but worry about my tranny. I have an ACT HDSS clutch which can't help the matter but I have never launched it or dumped the clutch. I hope my driving style is enough to save my tranny for a couple years at the least. I should be making around 320 WTQ from the looks of it. |
