how do you like the OEM roof racks? I feel like it's too "tall"... I want to get a rack that stands a little shorter from the roof. But the dilemma is whether I spend $200 on the OEM or $500 for yakima/thule

I was thinking the same thing when I made the choice. I went with the OEM because I'm trying to keep mostly Subaru parts. It does sit a bit tall, but it looks like it's made to fit our cars and like you said, I got it for 200 bucks. People have said other racks from thule won't fit on top of the bars because of the width of the bars won't support the brackets...but I'm thinking I will just stick to all OEM roof accessories that will work with the setup.

I don't think you had to tear the whole center console out. You could just lift the shift boot out and olé.

You don't have to completely remove it, but you do have to unscrew it and lift it up.

The shift boot plastic trim is held in by the center console. I tried to pull it out, up, down, but couldn't figure it out...I just unscrewed the 2 screws on each side of the armrest, and one by the e-brake and everything came out in less than a minute. I went to re adjust my Cobb shifter the other day and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Still very easy

So the carbon one should work just fine. The XV grille is "unique" because of the way the center wings and emblem are, not the shape or size. This means that the hood should be the same too.

I'd be interested in the grille, since it is a less expensive version of the Subaru sport mesh grille, but also since it doesn't have the emblem... hmmm...
How are we going with the grille any better news on it ? I'm keen to add it IMO it looks cleaner then the stock grille

The sport mesh grill is just as easy to remove the emblem. Its just screwed on through the mesh.

Why does 3k look so green?

For hid fogs you should probably get the outback assemblies as they are composite and glass. Not just plastic like ours

Overlays are protective and often colored films (usually vinyl) that are applied to the exterior of the lens. Yellow bulbs that are worth buying don't really exist.. They're sold, yeah, but the manufacturers basically just apply the film to the bulb itself which is generally not great for the life of the bulb. I plan to apply a yellow overlay to my fogs once the weather warms up.

Yeah, I'm hoping that they don't look greenish in person because I just bought the same exact HID kit. The HIDs will be going in my new Outback fogs lamps once I get them in.

Btw, thanks dima for the pics showing us how you mounted your kit. I'll probably mount mine very similar.
