Default Dreaded P0457

Hey guys, so I've been smelling fuel for a little bit when I go on cruises through the twisties mostly! I'll smell it in the back seat and in the trunk. I took the pump out and cleaned the seal and mating area and I looked at my canister. Some hoses on the canister didn't have clamps but it appears it's like that from factory.

I was wondering if anyone may have any ideas? It seems by having someone drive and I sit back there I caught a strong wiff when he stopped while turning.

The tank doesn't appear to be leaking and the tank is aluminum so I doubt it's that.

I appreciate any help.

The seal looked good on the pump. Not twisted or worn. It was soft and manageable.

Thanks!!!

Could just be a bad seal on the gasket that seals off the tank. Happened to me in the past. Gasket looked completely fine but sure enough after it was replaced the problem went away for good.

If you go the gasket route, there is 2 different part# for virtuality the same gasket. I posted thus in the fuel filter thread too. But one cost 9 bucks at the dealer and one costs 109. The $9 one Will work for you.

Thanks for the reply guys!

I will look up those part numbers. I know you can get the gasket from Autozone as well but I wonder if it's good quality. It looks like a rubber seal so probably just as effective as the OEM one?

Anyone else happen to have any ideas on the matter?

Thanks everyone!

Ever solve this problem? I've got P0457 up now too and I can also smell raw fuel in the car. The blue evap house near the alternator was disconnected in mine so I reconnected it and cleared the code. But it came back

Yeah mine was the gasket between tank and pump. I cleaned it and re tightened the entire thing and code never came back.
