8K? how much do they cost to ship over? A friend had his car shipped from hawaii, which I guess the freight lines only go 1 way, so it had to go up to china first then back down to the US? He said he paid around 2200 a few years ago, does that sound about right?

i dont know how much it cost to ship a car to FROM asia.. but to ship one to asia it use to be around 700 that includes all clearing the title with U.S. customs.

I had my 442 shipped from hawaii back in the days to Oakland and it cost me around the same price.

This guy can go pound sand. $18K for that?!?

There was a 1998 Impreza coupe with a perfect body and a FULL 2005 STi swap in it (harnesses, dash, drivetrain, etc... FULL SWAP) for $14k not to long ago and I'm pretty sure it A) looks better than this pile and B) is faster/performs better.

And if you bought that, you'd still have 4K left over for something sweet like a 22b-esque widebody kit and some 18x10" wheels.

I agree the price is high, but there is more to the car then just performance. Stuff like history, the rarity of the car, RHD, etc.... I'm sure there are folks out there that are into those things.

$18K track car because that car can be taken away for illegal import. By DOT or NHSTA.

In Cali they would auction for export removal or crush it.

Shipping from Yokhama 20 foot container $2700

i wouldnt touch it with a fourty foot barge pole. It was likely shipped over as a shell and then drivetrain and the original person realized its not that easy to register something like that here. I tried to buy and ship my friends escort cosworth over from england when i lived there and after doing ALOT of research it was just not worth it to do it legally. oh and RHD cars on right hand roads suck, especially trying to pass on twisty roads.
