Dude your car is fine. Don't listen to these jokes.

Make sure you prime the oil system every time you start it, these cars need it. Do that by starting the car and immediately revving it to redline a couple times.

That's probably all that happened, you didn't prime the oil.

If I were in your shoes here's what I'd do. Hit the local sub-forum and present your dillema. I am 98% sure with an offer of beer you may find some locals who have the experience and willingness to help you with the inspection/install.

For reference here is an oil pan install procedure with plenty of pictures...

I'm not ignoring anything.

I talked to the guy I Know that owns a shop. He said. Get the oil to the right level. Drive it around . If the light doesn't come on. Then you should be all set. But if the light does come on could mean a cracked pickup.

DON'T THINK IM IGNORIN YOU NOW BECAUSE IM JUST SAYING WHAT HE TOLD ME.
BUT I also said if i got it there and have him look at and an oil change.
He said he uses this kind of oil for 800hp turbo diesels. I don't remember the name but he said he'd do that.

If your oil pressure is at 5psi, that light will not be on

your bearings however, will still turn to glitter

you don't have an oil pressure gauge, so you can assume nothing

Where in Massachusetts are you?

If you're close to me I can walk you through removing the oil pan and checking the oil pickup for cracks.

Don't listen to your dad, he's wrong. Really. The oil pressure light is nothing to screw around with, as you can wind up with a ruined engine in a few seconds. Now, I'm inclined to think it was simply so low on oil that the pressure dropped. That said, it's pointless to risk it when dropping the oil pan is so easy.

You know what, why not listen to a guy you know who owns a shop. Obviously Killer B has no idea what they are talking about, I mean they only pioneered fixing a known issue with Subaru oil pickups. And obviously the people telling you not to drive have not knowledge whatsoever on these cars.

Oil he uses in 800hp Diesel's means jack squat. You can use cheap ass walmart brand oil in an 800 hp truck.

Whatever you do, when this car blows up, report back.

On a brighter note, I have a friend with an 02 wrx. His light came on and we both thought that he would have to buy a new engine. But it ended up being the wire going to his oil pressure sensor was slightly corroded causing the light to come on. Cleaned it up and everything was fine. We also verified with a mechanical oil pressure gauge.

I'm thinking I might invest in some of these gauges. What other gauges do you usually get?
I have a turbo one.. Oil pressure?? What else.

I run a oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, and boost gauge currently. At the very least you should have oil pressure and boost/vac IMO. There is a whole sticky on gauges on this forum if you just spend a few minutes searching.

Yes I did lol both shop guy and dad said its drive able. I should be able to trust them unfortunately. I trust you guys more because you actuLly own subArus lol

Checked the oil again for the hell of it.. There is WAY to much oil in it.. If I'm reading it right and I don't think I'm that stupid. But idk how there got to be so much oil in it.
Whatever. Trucks coming now not even gonna start it nothing.
Bringing to shop for an oil change and he's gonna check the pressure and everything and put this new oil in it. Not any Mobil one or nothing. He said its am oil they use in the turbo trucks. He just likes it alot more then any other oil.. Should be nothing wrong with that right?

Dear sir,

Thank you for listening to us. Please understand we all want the best for you (Even Vision.dynamix) and by doing what you have done will ensure that there isn't a larger issue.

I would still have the shop remove the oil pan and see if there are any metal fragments in there.

The stock oil pressure light is worthless for prevention of a problem.

As for the fact that there now being too much oil in the engine: These engines require a slow fill up on level ground.

I'm not sure on the specific oil capacity of your engine but mine takes a little over 4 quarts. So when changing the oil (I fill to 4 quarts) and then slowly add a 1/4 a quart at a time.. wait 5 minutes check the oil level by removing the dipstick, wiping clean and then checking the level. If still low I guess how much more I need and continue the slow fill (of the amount you wanted) wait 5 minutes and repeat.

The difference in the dots in the oil dipstick is 1 quart so you can guesstimate from there.

I hope this helps.

FWIW when we need to verify pressure we use a cheapo Sunpro mechanical gauge I think I paid $15 for it. Just for fun I checked the accuracy on a +/-1psi source and it was actually within 1psi for most of its range, which is WAY more accurate than you need. Screw it in, get the info and toss it in the toolbox until next time after.

And just for reference...
