Justy
The Justy 1.0 R.

Subaru has introduced its new Justy supermini in Europe. The five-door, 1.0-liter gasoline-fueled car delivers combined cycle fuel consumption of 5.0 L/100km (47 mpg US), and CO2 emissions of 118 g/km.

The new front-wheel drive Justy 1.0 R is based on the Japanese-built Daihatsu Sirion and is supplied via an arrangement with Toyota which has a share in both Subaru and Daihatsu. Subaru had earlier sourced Justy models, which have been on the market since 1984, from Suzuki (rebadged Swift and Ignis).

Subaru’s version of the Daihatsu Sirion will be limited to only 6,000 units per year throughout the whole of Europe and 1,000 sales in the UK.

The three-cylinder twin-overhead camshaft engine in the new Justy develops 51 kW (68 hp) of power and 69.3 lb-ft (94 Nm) of torque. Variable valve-timing enhances both low-speed pulling power and high-rev responsiveness. The new Justy has a top speed of 99.4 mph, with a 0-60 time of 13.5 seconds.

In the UK, the low CO2 emissions put the Justy in Band B for the Road Fund Licence at £35 per year and should result in it being London Congestion Charge-free when proposed new changes take place in 2008.

Looks OK - not for me, but I can see others buying it. Subaru needs to bring something like that over here...pick up on the Scion XB buying crowd...the ones that like the oddball looking cars, especially now that the XB is more like XB-Minivan.

Or, bring it over as a Daihatsu and bring back the Charade name!

Wow, that's that platform's 3rd incarnation. First the Toyota Passo, then the Daihatsu Boon, and now this. Toyota's involvement sure is showing.

Toyota Passo:

Daihatsu Boon

The Subaru version should look like this!
