My Scion had a Panasonic battery in it. I had it for 7 years with a multiple large stereo systems, and it never let me down once. Panasonic batteries are actually quite good, I mean they make all the lithium batteries for Tesla, so they know there stuff.

I replaced mine with an Exide Edge AGM battery a few months ago. The car cranks a lot easier and faster with this battery. So far so good we'll see if it lasts.

Had mine replaced under warranty as I noticed that cranking was getting weaker and weaker. The current one seems fine but every once and a while I just put the charger on it overnight, Once it craps out I will just get a much better quality battery. I am at 28K now.

they are a good quality battery, they are just undersized for the application.

I would stay away from bosch batteries. They are made by Exide. Look for a deka battery made by East Penn or a Johnson Controls battery - JCi. Both are much better quality at the same level.

My 2008 WRX, original Subaru Battery, 130,000 miles, still going strong. I do let it sit on a trickle charge when it sits more than 2 weeks, but other than that, no issues. They must have changed batteries since then.

what do you guys think of these? http://www.lithiumion-batteries.com/
obviously let's wait for the market to improve... prices are too high at the moment, but these may be the future. lightweight, long lasting, reliable, powerful... |

My battery is starting to go as well, I've had to get a co-worker to jump it for me. Coincidentally Subaru sent me a "coupon" for a "FREE Replacement and an 85 Month Warranty" haha, going in right now to redeem it.

My '15 battery is junk too. My battery was dead a couple months back after a weekend of not driving, and it's been taking longer to crank over since the temps have been getting cold here. I went to the dealership to have them test the battery a few weeks ago, but they wanted me to drop my car off for the weekend so they could test the battery. Forget that.

This is the fourth vehicle I've owned, and the only one that's taken what feels like an abnormally long time to start in the cold. Coupled with the fact that it's died on two separate occasions, I'd say my battery has a problem.

Just got mine replaced under warranty last week in my 15 with 33k miles. Takes a while for the dealer to test the battery, but you cant beat a new one under warranty. Hopefully this new one will have better luck.

I don't drive the car much TBH. I have a Golf Sportwagen daily driver and have probably driven the Subaru less than 500 miles in 6 months. (like go to work 1 day a week, or use it for small weekend errands). Even still, these Subaru batteries are just awful in comparison to other makes. I have a 2012 Jetta Sportwagen TDI that is also sitting in my driveway waiting to be sold back to VW as result of the diesel scandal that I haven't started in 3 months and its battery is just fine, and 3 years older. |

As I suspected, the battery on my year and a half old '15 was a POS. The dealer tested it today and it measured 296CCA. They wouldn't replace it under warranty because I'm 1500 miles (which is less than a month's worth of driving for me) over the 36,000 mile warranty. Oh well, **** me.

Instead of arguing with those numbskulls I just picked up a Duralast AGM. Very frustrating day haha, really wish it snowed down here. |

That sounds like every interaction I have had with the Subaru dealer here. Constantly looking for a way to deny your warranty claim, and then stick it in you when you aren't paying attention. |

I have a completely stock '16 WRX and after 17 months my battery is on it's last leg. Maybe people in warmer climates have better luck with the factory battery but way up in Northern NH, extremely cold winters are tough on batteries. I'd rather replace it with a Deka on my own dime then to go the warranty route and have to replace it in another 17 months or so............

Since I've been getting slow starts lately, I decided to go ahead and order a Deka Intimidator ... so I'll be ready just in case the OEM battery decides to kick the bucket this upcoming winter.
Considering I just bought the car in January, no way should the battery even be close to dying. |

Maybe subaru needs to offer an engine block heater option—somewhat kidding here. But I've certainly noticed that my '16 wrx doesn't turn over as quick as my other cars whether it is cold or warm outside. I don't have push to start and I have caught myself a number of times not turning the key to start long enough to start it. I have a 25 year old maxima that only takes the brief-ist turn to start to start it. I'm not sure if the WRX does in fact have a weak battery or if there is something else going on in the ignition/starting system.
