Default Do I need a slap in the head?

I'm considering the purchase of these for my Subaru.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/A-Cro...27582074QQrdZ1

Now, I don't do any trtack use but a little more reliability in my stopping ability is something that I like. But I'm a little cautious of that price. Seems a little on the low side of things. Would you agree? Or do you think these would actually be ok?

...cross drilling or anything short of bigger rotors and more pistons will not help you stop shorter.

Get aggressive pads and change your fluid. You'll notice a world of difference.

i know the honda guys don't like cross drilled rotors at all. back when i was researching a brake upgrade for my civic, all i kept reading about was guys who used cross drilled rotors on the track, and came back with cracked rotors.

if you're looking for increased cooling efficiency, it's better to get vented rotors (with the big channel in the center). i've read that slotted rotors can help the pads "bite" a little bit, but it's still better to just use vented rotors with aggressive pads (and possibly run some air hoses to help cool off the rotors as well!).

I would suggest a rotor from a more reputable source, like Subaru or Brembo. A Brembo blank from tire rack is pretty cheap. Heh, the only brembos on e-bay are drilled.

Unless you're getting really high brake temperature (like with a race pad on a track), cross drilled rotors are not going to crack. That said I think they're pointless and ricey.

um, and also I'm a closet ricer apparantly because I have these:

I traded with a friend of mine because they're not legal in PGT. The only benefit I've noticed is the cool humming sound they make. And they look kind of cool I guess.

Thanks guys. The pads are pretty agressive. I ordered the softest compounds around and am replacing pads about once a year. IF they only save me once a year....its a good year

Don't worry, I have those two when I did my WRX brake upgrade; $70 shipped for new rotors vs. $60 for a set of 60k used ones wtf =\.

I still have a set of KVR Cross-drilled rotors from a "group buy" a bunch of us Legacy board members did through GTBGUY (Jack) back when 'NASIOC' was still known as 'I-Club'. I have had no problems with my rotors, although anyone who tracks their car is quick to mention that cross-drilled rotors are indeed prone to cracking when subjected to extreme duty cycles.

On the other hand several high-perfomance Porsches come from the factory with cross-drilled rotors. I think its is importand to differentiate between those who just randomly drill holes into their rotors and those braking specialists (Brembo, Porsche, etc) who specifically engineer their rotors to be cross-drilled.

I'm of the opinion that Porsche and Mercedes etc drill [/cast] the holes for looks. I've yet to see actual proof that they make any sort of a difference. This isn't the 50's when it was necessary on race cars.

+1.

And the porsche and Merc and Ferrari rotors do crack still however.
