I bought a Nakamichi amp from them back in January. One of the channels ceased to put out any sound, so I sent it back to in March. They received it in early March (signed for.) I called in they told me it would take about a month to get it back to me...I thought, "good, I'll just wait."

So I call back in mid-April, when they told me it would take another week. I call back the next week and they once again told me next week. The same thing happened for weeks after that. The sales reps jot down my number numerous times and I received absolutely NO CALL from them whatsoever. Everytime I call to check on the status, they tell me the person in charge of my case is not in the office. I ask for the manager and get the same thing...not there. I leave my number for the manager to call at least twice now...no call.

It has been over 3 months now. I called again today and they said for some reason, they amp was sent back to Nakamichi for further repairs and they could not give me a reason for this. They said to call back on Friday and they will have an answer & date for me.

I am fed up...don't want to deal with these a**holes anymore!!! Is there anything I can do besides file a complaint with BBB (already did that)?

Bottom line: do NOT buy from these guys! Their customer service sucks.

Just as general advice, the best thing to do in the future is to have all communications be by certified mail. That way, you can prove in the future (in small claims court, if necessary) who said what, when. Telephone calls just end up being "he said, she said".
I'd write them a letter, certified mail return receipt requested, giving them a reasonable deadline to return the amp in perfect working order, or to return the full amount of money you paid for it (pick a date that gives them 12-15 business days from the day you mail the letter). Mention that if you don't receive one or the other by then, you will proceed with other legal remedies allowed, up to and including court judgement.
Meanwhile, look up small claims court procedures for your local area (Calif. is favorable to the plaintiff (you) in the way these are set up). Try looking at Nolo Press' website -- they're in Berkeley, and have a paperback book on the small claims court process that would be perfect for you. Good luck!

I agree with Doughboy, about a year ago I bought a set of Infinity speakers from them, they sent the wrong speakers. I called them about the problem, they were like "are you sure". You would think they would know the difference between the kappa and the reference series, but they said they were the same speaker. Not only do they not know what they are talking about, they take awfully long to ship. Don't buy from them!!!

thanks for the suggestion, Armand1. i will take the "certify" approach if anything like this ever comes up again.

i noticed that Sti owners are looking into stereos for their cars....just want to bump this thread to the top so that they don't make the same mistake i did.
