Default Doing an STi Ver 7 swap, time to choose turbo...

Alright, im doing a JDM STi Ver 7 swap into my RS with AVCS and all and I already want to upgrade the turbo. I was thinking about an 18G or maybe even a 20G, but I am not sure yet and I dont exactly know too much about them yet, which is why I am asking. Ive been suggested to look into the PE1820 as well...which is another turbo I really do not know much about. Basically the only turbo I have first hand knowledge of is the VF34, and thats because my friend has one on his WRX with all the stage 4 mods. I like the way it feels, but I want a little more power than the VF34 can put out. So for those of you out there with the 18G or 20G or PE turbos, I have a couple questions for ya. Around what RPM do you reach full boost? Have you dyno'd the car and if so, what other mods do you have? This car will be my daily driver until I can pick another car up or figure something else out, so it needs to be streetable still, but also want to have it be a kick ass track car. So any been there, done that stories and opinions are greatly welcome. Thanks.

Patrick

thinkin about 350whp or so...so i know i need more than a VF series can give me, unless the 22 can make that, but i like the sound of the FP turbo's better, they just seem like a superior turbo.

pump, cant afford race gas every day...basically, it will be my daily driver for a little while...but i am looking for a beast of a street car with as much power i can make reliably. So if I dont make 350whp, thats alright with me, but I would definately like to be over 300 at the wheels and i figure i should be able to do that with the Ver 7 motor and a good turbo, with all the other supporting mods of course.

Right now, im lookin for information on the turbo's i listed above and any opinions from those of u who have one or had or whatever, u know what i mean.

Thats my friends ride actually.. Mine should be getting tuned soon.. that was on the stock STI tmic and airbox.. Ahh man nothing like a 400whp RS

Well i made 305 on pump and 335 on race gas on the 1820 but my injectors were maxed and we couldnt go any further.. I am sure i coulda made 330-335 on pump and 370+ on race... I sold the 1820 and am moving on to something new..

Very nice power...im a little unimpressed by the torque numbers tho. But then again Im used to listening to the I-Speed guys who are completely torque hungry and dont really pay that much attention to the HP numbers. But the 400whp is definately a nice number to be able to throw out there, thats for sure!

Oh i have no doubt what so ever that it moves like hell...which is good because mine is going in my 2000 2 door RS, And the cams are the stock Ver 7's right?? If so, thats good to hear. But i dont know if i can wait until 4500+rpm to reach full boost...thats kinda high.

Then go with the 18g or something... Keep in mind he has the larger 8cm exhaust housing so spool is a bit slower.. but the 18g seems good for you goals.. I will prob end up with a 20g, mabey a green.. I am making my choice tomorrow.
