pic with A/C
I retained my A/C, but did have a custom i/c fabricated
These are crappy pics, I have better ones on my computer at home where it was closer to being finished

I did have spacers machined to raise the manifold up 1/2", but I think it could have been done without it if you did crush the tubing. I now have about 1" clearance b/w the hood and pipe(Oh, part of the skeleton on the hood had to be cut out)...
Being in Houston, I cannot be without A/C... And with the work involved, it's not for everyone... But I can say that turbo response is extremely quick if above 4k... I have a gt30r with .82 housing |

GTR STI,
Very nice setup, one of the best I've seen. If I hadn't already bought the Perrin FMIC, a mount like yours is ideal. I'd do it like that, if I was starting from scratch. Although I think your inlet pipe to the FMIC is a little small. Is it 1.5"-1.75" DIA? |

Is the radiator able to get enough cooling air w/ an intercooler like that?

I have a hydra and can log coolant temps. From what I've seen so far coolant temps have not changed... I run the car with a/c on full blast in Houston heat all the time. I can say I have not tested it on the track, but that time will come soon.
The charge pipe off the turbo is 1.75". My initial plan was to route the pipes under the manifold, but instead I rotated the turbo upwards and came out with a 90... Made fitment much easier, and if I ever need to pull it out it is really easy. |

GTR STI - that fab job is sick! Was it a pain to make the manifold spacers? Also what type of IC core did you use?

Final update:
Got everything tuned by Phil of Element Tuning a couple of weeks ago. Video can be seen here: http://users.rcn.com/wgknestrick/DynoRuns.wmv I also discovered a mistake I made when I re-routed the brake booster line. This could have been a huge mistake on my part with reguards to safety. There is a check valve that is pressed into the stock brake booster line that keeps the boost pressure from going into the assist system. This is a critical piece to install back into your brake booster line. I had left it out because it is pressed into the stock vacuum line and is very easy to overlook. Well when this valve is not installed, the boost pressure can act against the brake pedal and cause a huge resistance AGAINST your foot. Basically if you are on boost and ripping into the car and have to hit the brakes, you first must push all of the pressurized air out of the intake manifold before you get any brakes. Very dangerous and I almost slammed into the back of a car because of this. |

Did you section the radiator core support ? If yes, are you comfortable that this didn't compromise a crumple zone or crash safety ? Nice setup otherwise... |

Nice work Bill!!! Car really looks awesome. Glad to see someone else is running GodSpeed's kit with sucess. I am guessing you got all the leaks fixed? We just installed the FP3065 (to replace the 3052 I did have) turbo on mine Saturday and finally got rid of all the leaks. You have to have it all lined up PERFECTLY in order to prvent leaks with his setup.
Car looks AMAZING!!! -Matt |

Well being that there is no bumper beam, I would say that crash safety is somewhat diminished. I think I can fit the bumper beam back in there if trimmed, and I'm sure the I/C core will sustain some of a frontal impact(I'm sure not as much as the beam).
I have a friend that owns a machine shop, and we trade favors. I worked on his Daughters car, and he made me the spacers.. No idea what it would cost to have them replicated. Bell made me the intercooler, and I opened an account with him. I have a spec sheet somewhere if you would like to replicate it... I am selling the car, so don't really have a need for it. |

Here's mine. Kept the a/c with no problems. Didn't crush the piping above the alternator. Didn't cut into the hood. The underhood blanket does rub just a little, but not much. Piping is 2.5".

APS core, SS line and fitting is for alky injection, and no spacers on the IM.

Joker 13 - Where did you get that power steering pully and why? Also, same question about your power steering high-pressure line, where did you get that and why did you get it? What size nozzle are you running in your W.I.? Nice setup btw.

Not sure how much piping I eliminated, but I can try to get somewhat of a measurement when I find some free time. I know the owner of a local shop and I helped one of his guys fab them.
The power steering pulley came in a set from Unorthodox Racing (alternator, crank, and power steering). I had the power steering line custom made at a local shop after the stock one bit the dust on the up-pipe. Not sure what size nozzle. It's whatever SMC specs for the motor/turbo combo. |

Yea, I dropped the alternator as low as it would go. I than had to take and notch out the front so the AC belt wouldn't rub on the front of it.

No brackets need to be made to drop the alternator down(you just need a shorter belt)... It is very easy to see what you need to notch out when you lower the alternator all the way down and put a belt on. I don't know about you joker, but I also had to move the positive cable for the alternator to point a diff direction.

Take pride in knowing you have the #1 FMIC setup on the board. Do you have any other pics to share? |
