Default Oil Filter Test Study

http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfi...lterstudy.html

I've always known fram filters were garbage and i cringe when i see someone running one... especially on a built motor.

Fram filters also have the lowest amount of filter media which means less surface area for filtration.

I have always run purolators

Yup. Same here. PL14610 made for a Honda S2000.

I agree that Fram are the worst and I would not use one on my subie. My father and I have used regular old orange Frams on multiplte N/A cars with 3K OCI for over 150K some upto 200K miles. So for as bad as they are with regular maintenance they worked.

PL14610 is speced for every honda engine (d, b, f, j, k) since 1988 . The OEM filter for the S2000 has a slightly higher bypass setting than the 'regular' Honda filter. Purolator says that the 14459 filter is for the S2000 and that actually has LESS bypass pressure setting than the 14610 so if you do have an S2000, do not use what Purolator tells you too. At least use the 14610, but I'd just get the real S2000 filter from the dealer.

The 14610 is exactly the same filter as the 14612 (which is what Purolator specs for Subarus....still lower bypass pressure than what Subaru's want) except it is about 3/4" longer...more oil means slightly lower oil temps (though in this case, it's likely negligible), but you will have to put a bit more oil in the car to get it to the full mark.
