Default When to buy Summer Tires?

I'm looking to replace the Dunlop tires next spring, and was wondering what the consensus was for the best time to buy summer tires on Tirerack?

Now? Late winter? Other?

I'm eyeing the Michelin PILOT SPORT 4S tires, and right now they have a $70 mail in rebate. They are still pretty pricey ($190/tire), however.

Typically closer to the season is when I'd imagine you will see sales pop up. In the form of rebates.

Like now, lots of rebates for winter tires from multiple tire sites.

Early March I buy. Get the Michelins, as I am. Spend the extra bucks, you will always be happy you did.

I have the original summer tires of my 2016 if you are interested. Not more than 1k miles on them.
I see you are in illinois so I’ll make you a deal, pay for the shipping and they are yours.

I usually wait for their sales specials at Costco, I got a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport with a 70 dollars off and 1 cent installation... (the install comes with a wheel balancing and the 40k miles warranty or 5 years, free flat repairs and rotation if you want, I usually do my rotations myself) At the beginning i was a little bit skeptical but it already paid off. I bought my set this past June, and i got 2 flats (fix for free) and my last one was too close to the sidewall ... guess what ... I got a FREE replacement SET (My tires arrived yesterday so I will be dropping off my summer set for them to replace) .....because it is still in the warranty.

And just yesterday I installed a set of Michellin Ice ix3 ... i was going to go for the Blizzak but Costco or the manufacturer does not give any warranty ... and since the warranty worked out great for my summers ... I'm giving Michellin a TRY this winter.

I order mine in February/March for autox season. Might be a bit sooner as I believe last year 235/45/17's were sold out. I was will on 205/55/16's then.

That's a pretty sweet deal. I checked the Costco closest to me, and I can only get the Pilot Sport 3's (Only 20k warranty). Sams Club has the 4S tires, but they want $60 to install them.

Costco has .01 special going on now, and I've seen that price with them before.

I would do it during the winter. The demand I assume is a lot lower and you have a better chance of finding them with a price reduction.

Those Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are supposed to be great tires and improvement over the Pilot Super Sports, which were already great tires. That $70 rebate tends to come around quite often.

+1 for winter. Buying off season is always a steal.
