Default 1971 Saphire Blue Triumph TR6 Overdrive with Hardtop $10000

I'm not really expecting to sell my old car here but I figure the more exposure I can get of it the better. Maybe a fellow NWIC'er can tell their Dad to get in touch with me

This 1971 Triumph TR6 is in excellent mechanical condition. I've owned it for the last 12 years. I've been storing it in my dads large shop during all days of the year but the summer since 2002 and now he has bought an RV that he wishes to store there and has instructed me to bring the TR6 home. I don't really want to sell it but I cannot keep a car like this and my other car at my house in Renton Washington with only a 1 car garage.

This car has over 150k on it. Engine was rebuilt in 1996 and I have put approximately 50k on it since then.

This car has a four speed manual transmission with the factory
optional electric overdrive.

Some things that have been upgraded or otherwised replaced while I have owned it are:
Differential mounts were beefed up to prevent structural failure that occurs in TR6 cars. I did this in 1999.
New radiator from The Roadster Factory in 1999.
New front calipers in 2000.
Gear reduction starter added 2002.
Brake master cylinder replaced with a sleeved and rebuilt unit in 2002.
Cibie 100W headlights w/city lights. New in 2004, also installed with relays to promote switch longevity and light out put.
Front bumper rechromed in 2005. (Rear was perfect and doesn't need it!)
New alternator summer of 2005.
Ignitor electronic ignition added in 2005.
Rear brakes, including ebrake, rebuilt summer of 2006.
Suspension completely rebuilt using polyurethane bushings summer of 2005.
Trailing arm brackets replaced with adjustable units from Goodparts summer of 2005.
New SU carburetors to replace the old OEM Zenith Strombergs summer of 2005.
New Tires summer of 2006.
New Canvas Robbins top summer of 2007.
New stainless steel exhaust system summer of 2007.
New Borg and Beck clutch summer of 2007.
New Aluminum fly wheel summer of 2007.

It will also come with two sets of wheels: Panasport alloy wheels (tires have less than 1000 miles on them, purchased summer of 2005) and the factory steel disc wheels. I've got lots of other parts from my tenure as owner of this vehicle and I will give them to the lucky new owner.

There is much more to say as I have always kept care of this car and it has been carefully maintained and rebuilt over the years. I have kept this car as a driver and not as a trailer queen. That being said, I'll reiterate that I haven't driven it at any other time of the year than during the summer since 2001 when I stopped using it as a daily driver.

The paint is not perfect and the interior is not perfect. Carpets and doorpanels were replaced in 1997 with new stuff from The Roadster Factory. It is now the old stuff and should be changed.
This car is an excellent driver and it looks great from 15 feet!

These pictures were taken 6/21/08 (from 15 feet )

I took this picture of the car with the hard top on before I took it off. Hardtop is in matching sapphire blue. It was painted to match the car in 1998 and the head liner material was replaced. It's still in decent shape but it is no longer perfect as it has been 10 years since it was rebuilt.

Thanks for the good words, guys. It's a fun car during the summer and it turns a lot of heads. It's pretty reliable too now that it has the brand new carburetors. It starts quickly and just goes and goes. It's kinda like a lawn mower in terms of complexity ...it even has a choke and a priming lever.

Good stuff man!

I helped my neighbor restore a few old MG's and had an absolute blast with them. Currently looking for a classic Austin Mini Cooper for a nice project...

Fun day at the British Field Meet at BCC. I had this up in the sale section but no takers. It was definitely the best deal as far as TR6s went at the sale. There were a couple in the high teens and one in the $20k range that put this car to shame. There were a few that were way over priced without the accoutrments of this car, EG, hard top and electric overdrive. There were also a couple rolling POS cars, one for $5600 . No one was selling much of anything. Tough market to sell an old car.

That's pretty slick!

I think I saw this on cr...

I almost picked up a japanese classic- a 1971 datsun 1600 roadster- this weekend, but just barely got beaten to it.

Good luck with the sale!

Those old Datsuns are cool. Some English car lovers like to beat them up as Japanese copies of British classics. It's true enough, but they are still cool old cars.

I just sold it. I am very sad and happy at the same time. The guy I sold it to is a retired Boeing guy so we kinda bonded over that. I asked him to give me the first shot at it when he is ready to sell it.

Now I have room in my shop again! Time for the EWG and new turbo that I have been sitting on. I can start doing installs for people again and I can clean all the TR6 isht out of the shop and my shed too! Hopefully I will have room then.
