Driver side harness was a real pain to get out, the front bumper came off and is now on the pile. Removing it and trimming and welding up the radiator support went well. Now there is plenty of room for the new FMIC.

The Engine is done, so hopefully I will get the ecu and interior back in the car this weekend. Then I will work on getting the transmission in.

Changed the drivers and passenger side mirrors over because they are heated.

Also changed passenger side door handle to remove old lock cylinder. I will be changing all the locks over to the 07 keys.

To remove the handles, you need the window up and down at different times. With the window up, take out the bolt inside the door on the left. Then roll the window down, and take out the bolt on the right. The handle will pop out. Then you have to unclip the rods.

Removed the new front door skins and harnesses to go over to the 04 and the front seat. I left the passenger side seat in because i took the seats out first on the 04 and i regretted not having anywhere to sit comfortably for the dash and harness removal.

Removed the radio, center console, dash board and speedometer cluster. I had to label all the connectors and write notes on what everything goes to.

Since the airbag was activated on the donor car, i found out a few things.

The airbag gets hot enough to melt the plugs when it deploys, so you need a new clock spring on the steering wheel, or you can buy new plugs. They are cheap so i will try and see if that will work.

Also, the airbag computer needs cleared of faults so it will work again. I found a company that will reset it for 50 bucks. I found some used modules on ebay, but if they have been deployed also, i would still have to get it reset.

The driver seatbelt is triggered just like the airbag. If it is, you need a new one. It looks like i may get away with using the 04 seatbelts, it looks like everything will switch over.

The driver airbag is different on the 07 than the 04, it has different plugs so they wont work. I got an unused airbag to replace the deployed one.

I made some progress today. First off I had to repair my engine hoist. The retainer pin popped out and the plunger pulled out of the cylinder.

Once I got that fixed, I shipped the SRS module to get reset, picked up the long block at Moore Performance, cleaned out my garage, and moved the tranny from the basement, all with help from my nephew and brother in law.

I traded my Td04 and some cash while down at the shop for a vf 43 in good shape I also sold my flywheel for a couple bucks.

Hopefully i can pick up a cheap sti one. The ej255 and ej257 run different flywheels, and mine wasnt compatible with the six speed.

Removed and labled both front door harnesses, removed the steering column, blower assembly, heater core/ac coil assembly, and the dash beam.

The main harness is almost ready to come out. I have to tackle removing the right fromt fender because it is smashed. I cant just unscrew the panel, i will have to cut the crumpled bolt sections.

So far the 07 wiring harness is less cluttered than the 04 harness in my opinion. The climate control is also way easier to remove than the manual temperature control system.

I talked to Moore Performance and they helped me to line up all the fluids for the tranny and diff. The rear diff is a Suretrac unit, so it takes the regular 75w90 gear oil.

I purchased the same pedal adapter for my swap but have yet to install it. What is the arm for?

I dont know. I am thinking once i get up and running if i dont need it ill cut it off.

Since it is made for a few different style pedals, it may be for one of them.

I remember reading somewhere that its to keep the pedal from being pressed down to far. Other question I have is what did you need to trim?

If you have the pedal i have (07 wrx ), there is some webbing that you can remove to clear the factory bolt head. Its not much, and if you go too far it looks like you may damage it.

I used one of the high speed flutes i have for my die grinder. I chucked it up in my cordless drill and went slow.

I used the two factory bolts and bolt locations and the other came with the kit to fit in the square hole from behind on the bottom. The two on the right i mounted the plate, then i took out the top one and set the new pedal down on the stud at the bottom.

I then put the top bolt through the pedal and bracket together. So you end up with the supplied stud on the bottom left, and two factory bolts on the right side. Looks good to me.

I repaired the passenger side harness that was damaged (ABS solenoid), then pulled it through to the cabin, along with the drivers side harness and fuse box.

One pair of wires is missing a plug in the lower harness. It was what i thought was the right fog light, which was damaged in the accident. It turns out the wires pulled out of the right front Air bag sensor. I checked and there is a plug but no wires in it, still connected.

I will see what i am able to do with it. I am getting close to start putting it all back together

After taking a look at where the washer resevoir is in the 07, i am thinking i will move it over too. It resides under the battery in the lower front bumper.

The 04 washer resevoir was up near the fuse panel, so i should gain some room in the engine bay.

The intercooler tube runs right where the 07 washer tank resides, but if i remove the mounting tabs and turn it 180 degrees it should clear it.

Another thing i found different was the E Brake position changed in order to accomodate cup holders in the center console.

I had to repair some wires that were ripped out of the front airbag sensor.

To do so, I had to remove the sensor, then dissassemble the plug.

Once i had it apart, i had to reconnect the wires to the pins. They were crimped on so i soldered the wires in.

Have to make sure the little seals are in good.

Hopefully the box wont see a fault.

Neatly folded up in the front fender was the ABS pump and mounting bracket.

The pump made it but the bracket not so much.

With a bunch of patience and hard work, i was able to rescue it to live for another day. Whats cool is it uses the same bolt locations, even though the pumps an brackets are quite different.

Got just the spot for it.

I worked on the car all day monday and made some progress. I got the complete harness repaired and out of the 07 and ready for installation in the 04, as well as the things posted above.

Pulled this out of the 07 tonight and sold some bits. Also sold the front 4 pots.

Tomorrow i "plan" on starting the rewire of the 04 now that i got the harness out and repaired.

The passenger seat belt came in but the plug was cut, so ill have to take care of that.

Over the weekend i worked a bit on the car. A while back i ordered a used pasenger side seatbelt because it had activated. I would have used the one from the 04 but it is different.

So i unboxed the belt and it was wound up just about all the way. At first i figured it was probably easiest to ship it like that, and ill just pull it out so i can install it.

To my suprise it wouldnt release no matter what i did. I struggled with it for hours.

Eventually i ended up taking it apart on one side, and fortunately i was then able to get it to release.

On the side there is this plastic mechanism. It says DO NOT REMOVE i also am telling you for your own good not to mess with the seatbelt. It has a powder charge in it like an airbag to automatically retract in an accident. VERY DANGEROUS. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS.

I took the cover off anyway.

Right at the bottom where the small screwdriver is there is a small white plastic dog that was making the metal dogs catch on the belt spool. I held it down and was able to completely unwind the belt. I tied a knot in the belt to keep it from retracting while i installed it in the car.

Yesterday i removed the rear harnesses on both cars and put the 07 rear harness in the 04. There are some differences, so i just swapped them. I also put in the fuel pump controller from the 07. I cleaned out the 04 of all my tools and parts to make room for the main wiring harness.

Overnight i worked on putting the main harness back in. I pulled it through to the engine compartment in various places, and plugged in the rear body harness, rear doors, door switches, side impact sensors, and seat belt connections. The replacement passenger seat belt strap plug was cut off instead of being unplugged. I hope all the repairs to the SRS and Safety system wiring will work out in the end. If not i will definitely regret not just using the engine related wiring and merging the two harnesses. I am in a good spot to get the HVAC stuff back in and the dash beam. I will stop there while I do some prep for the rear sub frame.

Once i get the rear sub frame down, i can drop the gas tank, clean it, and install the parts from the 07 gas tank. I plan to replace the stock pump with a Walbro 255 as a lift pump for my surge tank. This will be a good time to install the upgraded fuel lines and fittings I will need in the future.

After work today, the plan is to completely remove the rear sub frame and differential. I need to clean it, paint it and get it ready to reinstall with the R180 differential, and new stiffer bushings. I sprayed it all over with PB Blaster to ease the process of removal. I broke all the bolts free and it should come out easily. Only one sub frame bolt gave me trouble, but I have an extra one to replace it with from the 07. It was in bad shape for some reason, while the others were pretty good.
