For those of you with Hella Supertones, how did you guys mount the horns? Did you fabricate something from the local hardware store or buy a mount like this? http://www.cruxmotorsports.com/index...&product_id=93 Would such a mount be even necessary? I'm OCD so I would probably spend forever trying to align them properly (so I am leaning towards buying one). I've read about people mounting them to their hood latch, except the hood latch rubs against it.
I guess this bracket from Subimods is a safer bet being cheaper too helps as well http://www.subimods.com/subimods-com...s-bracket.html. Would getting this horn harness be worth it, I'm sure it's doable without and it's $5 cheaper (at $35) when you order it along with the bracket? http://www.subimods.com/subimods-hel...rness-kit.html

I got the complete kit from Subimods for my 12 Sport Limited and it worked fine. Just a word of advice, make sure you use the OEM relay in the Supertones kit and NOT the one with the harness kit. When I had mine installed we used the cheapie relay and it worked for about 5 minutes and then stopped. Pain in the ass to troubleshoot and we were checking all the fuses and connections. Then we swapped out the relay with the OEM one and it worked without a hitch.

In my post above I meant to say that is what I will be doing again, not "u". But I think you would be happy with overlays too. I have headlight armor now, I think they are the thickest on the market. |

Flapatax Simplified (installed)
Finally got a chance to install the front flaps, rear I did a couple of months ago. I like these, they are big enough without being obnoxiously big, and offer WAY more coverage than the OEM aero mud guards that Subaru sells (those are a fashion accessory, they barely stick out and down).
He has two designs, these are Flapatax Simplified, bought on ebay for $57.00 including shipping, Pumpkyn (sp?) who is occasionally on the forum makes and sells these. They install with simple U-nuts and bolts, and are very stiff urethane. I have decals that I might add when it is warm for the rear. Overall very pleased, at first I got some bum hardware (which is why the rears only were installed) be he corrected that right away, with the correct bolts and U-nuts I put the fronts on in about 20 minutes including putting the car on jackstands and pulling the wheels (and cleaning around the wheel wells): Last edited by Zeeper; 02-26-2013 at 11:48 AM. |

The mounting holes are already in the fenders, for the front the clips and bolts replace the lower two plastic clips and the rear has holes right where you need them to install them. It isn't too difficult, though you probably should pull the wheels to speed it up. The front you also have to temporarily dislodge the wheel well plastic but it isn't difficult to do. |

Do our cars have a harmonic balancer and if yes is it attached to the crank pulley? I haven't had a chance to install mine yet and I'm a bit reluctant after reading this: http://www.machv.com/tip11cranpul.html
"Performance enthusiasts have been known to remove harmonic balancers, usually when the balancer is attached to the crank pulley, deciding that they aren't necessary and their mass reduces the performance of the engine. However, this is unproven and potentially very risky because the danger of damage to the engine from the vibrations the damper is intended to prevent is too high." |

its been stated in this thread and others the crank pulley is just that a crank pulley on these motors. The bigger key is to run a stock sized pulley so your not under driving other components.

the service manual just talks about the crank pulley. i have never looked at mine so I can't tell you if that is just subaru's description or if it is a harmonic balancer

If you could point me in the direction regarding our Impreza's and the crank pulley with/without a harmonic balancer, it would be much appreciated.

Though, I'd agree with the fact that the lighter weight could wear out other parts faster. |

Getting my taxes back in a week so I think it is time to do some suspension upgrades to my car! I'm going to go with a perrin 22mm rear sway bar, a cusco 24mm front sway bar, and front and rear poly perrin end links. Will total $770. Opinions?

I would be afraid that sway bars of those dimensions would make an oversteer condition too easy for my taste. But if that's what you want, and you know how to control it, and you don't find that price too spendy, then go for it.

That was my worry about it all. The stock front is 21mm and the only front one I can find is 24mm. For the rear I have found a 19, 20, 22, and 25. Not too sure on which rear to go with

Most people who upgrade the RSB go with the 19mm STI bar. I don't know about the front because I hear more from people upgrading just the rear bar and leaving the front alone.

That's the same upgrade that I am running at the moment with the stock end links. At first it felt way stiffer however its been about 2 months now and tend to find it is still a little sloppy. I got it free since my buddy upgraded his bars on his 12 sti so I don't mind doing an upgrade again. Just not too sure what to go with for rear. Another friend runs 25 front and 22 rear in his wrx in the medium setting and really likes it. Just not too sure if I could compare how his feels to how mine would feel since the rest of his suspension is totally different
