Default Weird problem

Sorry for the long post and for my English.

It happen to me last week and i find it weird. If it's not on the good section, please, change it.

I own a 11 wrx hatch stage 2 with a protune at Lachute Performance for the last year.
Last week, it was very cold and i was returning from a ski trip. 10 minute before arriving at home, i did a moderate push to enter the last highway. I was at about 5500 rpm in second gear. I this moment, i heard a pssuut sound comming for the engine and a powerfull Knock. My head was going foward like when hard braking. At the same moment, the cel light, traction control light went on and cruise is flashing. I know some just happen. So i drive carefully the rest of the way, without going over 3000rpm.

At home, i plug my Accessport and it show problem with turbo, wastegate and solenoid (can't remember and number). So i was crying alone and shut the car and start researching. I read that it cold either a very major problem, like turbo blown off or a misfire. Next day, i called Lachute Performance and the guy explain to me the same thing. Buy he add that because of the cold, the misfire was the most probable thing. I decided to test it myself. I uninstall the Accessport and restart the engine. No cel light. I did drive a bit with it and nothing happen. I did go to the dealer and they told me the same thing but they can check it with a 2-3 hour of work. But the guy add and the ecu should protect everything. If no cel light, should be ok. If it happen again, go to them. Fine, i did that.

Next day, i did drive a little harder just to try it. Try at 3500 rpm, nothing, 4000, the same, 5500 same, wot no problem. So i'm thinking that i should be fine. My dad suggest this may be bad fuel. The gas station hasn't the best reputation around, so maybe. I did reinstall the AP, and try the cobb stage 2 93 octane map with a full 94 gas tank. Try everything else, and perfect all the way. Fewww.

I did notice a big change though. My butt dyno say that the car is powerfull, and fun with the 93 map. But the car fuel comsumption tell me something i'm not used to. A way better fuel milage. No idea in MPG, but in L/100km it went from 11 to 9.

When i drive on cruise control, i'm used to see 10,5-12 L/100km. Depending of Wind and everything. Now for the exact same road, with about the same temperature, it show 8,0-9,5. Even with the price of the 94, it cost less to run.

I would like commentary for my course of action with the cel code and for the mpg.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^likely this, but it should have tripped a CEL...unless your tuner disabled it.

Cold ambient temps don't cause misfires.

Maybe it was not a misfire, maybe just the Ecu that cut the turbo.

Thanks for the input
