Find a clutch/flywheel yet? Do any of them list bolt spacing or mounting dimensions?

None that I've seen so far. Many sites dump in results for the WRX and STI when filtering for an Impreza, so now I just look for Crosstrek parts.

The model/year filtering on subaruonlineparts.com is completely worthless.

Neither rockauto nor partsgeek carry any timing hardware at all for our engines, but apparently it's common across all FA and FB engines:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Timing-Chai...item3d56c02e0b

Now I have to decide if I'm better off with OEM timing hardware with 111K on it, or new ebay parts of unknown manufacture.

Sprockets as well. I think worn sprockets wear a new chain faster.

I should probably look at the sprockets first. The teeth tend to get a sharkfin shape over time.

Not sure about the BRZ clutch/flywheel. Seems more likely to work than an EJ sourced part, but that's a complete guess.

Possibly, but good luck finding out what they are.

I plan to pull the sump and timing cover tomorrow.

Somehow the dipstick on the trans has disappeared. I doubt it worked itself loose and I know I haven't misplaced it. Maybe some absent minded tech forgot to put it back during inspection.

In any case, this means another fill of Severe Gear. I'll be looking for water in the drainage.

Yeah I have felt that on occasion. When braking and then immediate acceleration. It's like the transmission disengaged and the car is in neutral, then engages again. It happen to me when I was doing left foot braking into a turn. Then accelerating to follow through.

Kind of scary, if you are trying to accelerate and nothing happens. But I would say it has only ever happened to me in the rarest of occasions where my inputs (brake and acceleration) are hesitant.

Beyond spline count, I didn't.

The only other interfaces to the car are crankshaft bolt pattern and ring gear, possibly overall depth and throwout fork.

If it doesn't fit, the whole kit goes back.

Every starter i have put on my car came off a 2015+ fa20dit so i would expect Subaru uses same tooth count for every manual transmission car. Cvt starters dont fit because flexplate is wrong tooth count.

I bet it fits

I hope you're right. If losing 10lbs from the flywheel gets me faster shifts without noise or CELs, I'll be very happy.

Do you have a source and part numbers for idler / tensioner bearings?

I don't see a need for replacing the entire assembly.

Kreen update:

3400 total miles on the oil. it is pretty much black, about as dark as I would normally see in the 7-8k range. 1100 miles of Kreen and down 16oz from when i put in the Kreen, so I am hoping that is just the Kreen burning off.

changed oil and filter, added more Kreen. this i think will be my last 1000 miles with the Kreen. it will either have helped or not after this fill, very curious to know how dark the oil will be after this 1000 on brand new oil

i was going to install my oil catch can again, but after pulling the hose and it wasn't too wet like it had been before starting the Kreen decided to hold off for now. it might be helping, at least I am going to remain hopeful

Well, I haven't gone under my car, but I can see a pretty big oil buildup on the front of the engine and the front bottom part as well. I'm guessing that is what is causing the burning oil smell when the car has been running, dripping directly onto the cat (?) directly below.

Luckily I'm still under the 100k mile warranty, so I'm hoping the dealer will be able to look at it and fix.

Thought I would share some dirty pics. EDIT: Dirty engine bay and undercarriage pics Whoo close one there....

So I've had 2 winters of ridiculous salt and here is how the fluid film is holding up so far. I applied each year in the fall, first year I pulled the fender wells and sprayed under them, 2nd year everywhere that was showing.

I missed the wheel hubs since I didn't want to spray on the brakes, but looks like I should of since that is the only place where there is rust. Sprayed all over the frame rails and shock towers and under the rim of the hood as well.
