We have two Recaro ProRides. We have both of our kids still rear-facing (3yrs and 22months) and they have no complaints. They fit fine on the side seats, but they are a tall car seat. We're not tall, both under 5'9", and we seem to have enough leg room. It takes a little getting used to the different vision lines they create, but overall not bad. We've been happy with them. They generally are in my wife's OBXT since she is at home with the kids. But they have migrated to my car occasionally. It is a royal pain to install both of them as the middle LATCH straps can be a pain to get yourself into a position to really cinch them down tight. It can take awhile. One is easy, two is a challenge. For almost a year we had a Recaro and the Chicco Keyfit 30. I think the Chicco took just a little more room, but not by much. Our first we did put in the center, but it probably wasn't as secure as it was on the side due to the seat hump, plus the LATCH doesn't fit for the center seats.

As far as it not being a vacation car with kids, It's all in your perspective. Just get a cargo box. I found it best to put the stroller up top with other unimportant items, then fill the back with the necessary things like diapers, cooler, snacks, and the heavy things, etc to keep the roof weight down. I can't speak for it with older kids, but we managed to pack a double stroller, pack-n-play, luggage, cooler, diaper bag, spare diapers, life jackets, 2 mountain bikes plus much more. Does the box create a hit on MPG's? A little. But then again we did get 25 mpg on a 900 mile round trip. Maybe we'll take the Outback this summer, but honestly, it doesn't get near the gas mileage as the WRX

Both of our kids love our cars, but when ask which one they like best, it's always "daddy's car." They giggle when they, as my daughter says, "feel the boost." And my son had a lot of fun around the mountain roads this winter learning how to ski. I was quite proud of how well he did for a 2 year old- made it to the intermediate runs! We've learned how to adapt to our cars. It's kind of like backpacking: the larger the bag, the more stuff you'll find to fill it, the smaller, the more efficient packing.

Just wanted to share the new car seats I got for my 2 daughters ages 6 & 3. They wanted pink of course but I said NOT!
These match the best I think with the WRX interior. They are made by Evenflo.

02 WRX wagon, and a 14 month old baby. Baby seat fits fine, but stroller occupied all the trunk space. Impossible for Costco shopping. Can't wait for another 4 more months to upgrade to booster seat.

I have a '13 wrx hatch with three kids (4, 2 & 2). I would not be owning this small of a car if we didn't have a larger vehicle to use normally....minivan. One child is fine in the wrx because my seat doesn't get cramped, but when I have to put 2 kids in the back it's pretty uncomfortable and tight. I'm 6'0 and unless I want to crush my kid's legs, I can't move the seat back far enough to where I like it...and I think that is closer than most would have it. You will fill the whole car with whatever junk you have to take, which is why people on this thread are pointing out all the ways you can have stuff fit (get a roof rack). If you have a larger car/suv/minivan you have plenty of room and don't have to pack in like a clown car. People make a wrx/sti work with kids because it's a car they "want" so you make it work, but it's really not practical for a family with a couple of young kids. It's better as a second "fun" car in that instance where you just drive with kids occasionally. Once the kids get into a booster it's starts getting better.

Don't have mine yet, it's being shipped to me this week, but I'll have 2 car seats in the back of mine.

My wife and I never used strollers for either of kids. It's way more trouble than it's worth in our opinions. My wife used a sling (similiar looking to what women use in Africa) or me a baby backpack or I'd just carry them. It made our lives to much easier. Once they're over 1, they're running all over the place anyway.

I'm 17 and I can haul my two brothers and sister in my '08 OBS pretty comfortably. They call it my "clunker" for some reason...I don't get it.

13 sti hatch. 2.5 yo with regular car seat and 9 month old with rear facing infant seat. I had plenty of room, I'm 6' and 300+ lbs! I was surprised, probably wouldn't take it Christmas shopping with a stroller or two and try to get gifts in the back, especially with aftermarket subs! But, it gets us to lunch, etc.

Good luck! If you already have any kids it will make having one seem like a piece of cake, but still be a ton of work.... if the twins are your first then I feel bad for you < that's you being thrown right into the fire.

Gee, thanks for the kind words

These twins will be the first set of kids for my wife and I. We were initially trying for just one but I guess 1 just wasn't good enough lol. Oh, and did I mention they're identical?

No problem
We have identical twin girls that are 2yrs old now, and a 4yr old boy. I still get the girls mixed up some times. Only difference between them is one has a small mole on the top of her head (which now the hair covers up) and a freckle on her foot. Oh, get ready for massive amounts of attention when you are in public as well. Everyone feels the need to comment on them and tell you if they have a twin or know a set of twins.
With 3 kids now they fight over riding in my car and the girls just scream "BLUE CAR! BLUE CAR!" when they want to ride in it....sadly they have to go in the minivan.

We've got 2.5 year old twins.

What kills me is how people will look at them, obviously looking at 2 of the "same person" and look you dead in the face and say... "Are they twins??"

"Umm.. Well.. Yes, ma'am, they are."

He's right, twins can be challenging, but if you don't have kids yet, you won't know the difference.

The exponential rate of everything is the hardest part. 1 parent + 2 moving toddlers = very busy adult.

We just recently built a built a new house and could not WAIT for the backyard fence. LOL

Our twins are our first and only children and its been a ton of fun. We don't do all the twinsy dress then alike all the time, we dress them similar but not the same.

Twin talk has to be one of the neatest things.

That's something I'm gonna have to practice, telling them apart! I've been told that the attention part will be pretty annoying after a while, we'll see. I think I can get used to that. What is your suspension set-up?

Identical or fraternal? Boys or Girls?

My wife and I already agreed we won't be dressing them alike, either. We can't stand when people do that for some reason.

Fraternal girls. No one believes us that they are fraternal, but that's what the doctor said. LOL

People will give you doubles of identical everything, it's annoying. They're not the same kid, ya know?

We didn't find out until around 22 weeks it was twins, which was both shocking and funny because around 5/7 weeks my wife asked the doctor if she was having twins and he could only find one heartbeat so he said "I bet my middle daughter that there is only one in there." Well he was wrong, and he never paid up.

So because we found out so late, they weren't sure if they were identical or fraternal. When they were born they really didn't look identical, so we thought fraternal. As they got older they started looking more alike and nobody else could tell them apart. We had a DNA test done to find out and turned out they are identical.

Suspension setup? Both my wrx and minivan are stock.

Default 3 in the back

I have 3 in the back of my 13' wagon. A 9 month old, 2 year old and a 4 year old. All fit great. Look at diono seats, you can fit 3 across although if you try making a diono rear facing you will have to move the passanger seat all the way forward. I use a chicco 30 instead for the baby.
