Whenever I restore headlights, I always try to maintain a good layer of wax with UV protection on them. I like Collinite 845. It makes me sleep better at night knowing there is at least SOMETHING on them that will make the clean/unfaded look last longer.

Bug spray and toothpaste do not work. Wetsand starting with 1000, 2000, 3000, then buff. Make sure to protect after to keep them from doing that again.

I have used Mother's Aluminum Mag Wheel polish whenever I did my headlights. Just swirl it on, wipe it off.

Just have to make sure to seal them, or they'll become opaque again in a few months.

Tail lights of my FRS. Painted (some haze, and hardly clear)

And cleared by a body shop. It cost me $80 and an afternoon. Car had to sit overnight, but it was REALLY worth it. Just waiting for the "need" to pull off my front bumper to do it to the headlights of the WRX

So were your tailights polished, or did the shop re-clear coat them?

if it's an older car, you have to wet sand and then clearcoat it with a 1k or 2k uv protective clear, otherwise the yellowness returns in a few weeks/months. With new cars just buff it, no need to wet sand.

I meant for the taillights. Mine have overspray aswell. Just wet sanding and polishing would work for the taillights?
