![]() How come you weren't there?
It was me, John and my buddy Ian. Conditions were a lot harder than last year. Lots of carnage. I got sucked into a secret ditch in a near-miss with a local and waited almost an hour for sweep to *not* come. (they were attending to a head-on collision between the Cadillac and a local in a pickup truck... yeah.) We finally self-sweeped, but were so far behind that we maxed out the next 3 regularities. With no known shortcuts available, we simply drove flat-out for the next 2 hours or so. We caught up, but there was nothing that could be done about our score. John slid his mustang off the road later, costing him an hour and half. Stay tuned for pictures of that. It was spectacular. Barely a scratch on it, though... We also got delayed the second day after I blew a corner and ended up in the far bank. That time, it was all me. That was a small delay, but it cost us max-points at 3 checkpoints. Thinking back, when we weren't digging ourselves out, we actually averaged 2 or 3 points per timing. That credit all goes to my lovely navigator. I need to get my car control on-par with her calculator control... I now know how Ken Block felt last season. He kills it out on stage, then stuffs it into a tree or something, ending his rally. There: I'm the Ken Block of TSD... Last edited by timbits; 02-09-2010 at 03:21 PM. |

![]() Yeah, there's not a whole lot of info about that crash. Rumor has it that sweep truck that never came for us was driving people to the hospital...
We had no injuries and the car seems no worse for the wear. They were both low/medium-speed stuffs into deep snow. After popping one clip back into place on the bumper cover, you'd never know anything happened. Good thing snowbanks are so soft compared to all the other things I could have hit. Yeah, it was the same '78 Cadillac/Abarth (however you spell that...) My buddy Ian drove by it and says it looked serious. |

![]() it was an awesome weekend.
between Aaron and myself we probably had 6 or so times of getting stuck in a snowbank and dozens of times hitting them. so much learning! Snow is def the best way to practice as it has very little penalty for botching corners. Snowbanks were also helpful with the brake vacuum disconnected... ![]() It was pretty funny having paul drive by and ask, "i saw 4 spots on beaver with tracks leading off the road. how many of those were yours?" 3 of them... ![]() |
