not such a good day for us. long story short, our brake piston broke and we missed the timed session. found a set of stop techs, so we bought em and installed em. there is another timed session tomorrow, so the pressure will be on.

we also fighting horrible pushing, but have the car set up to hopefully remedy that for tomorrow.

we only got maybe 6 laps of practice and our low is a 1:38.

standings so far in unlimited (only 4 cars went out for the timed session, i think 8 were practicing, so i guess we're not the only ones w/ an issue):

1. CWest S2000 - killing everyone w/ a low 1:35
2. GST Subaru Impreza L - low 1:38 i believe
3 and 4. Not sure they were really close, i forget which one is where. A Turbo something NSX (not X factor) and the Crawford STi at a 1:39.

that's all i know. not sure what's going on in other classes. sorry. late.

Temperature at the track was about 96 degrees. Track temp was about 20-25 degrees hotter. There was definetly so wind that was being dealt. Around 20mph. Caused a lot of coolant problems for some cars at the track. I was w/ crawfords team for the day with their 2008 STi.

Cobb's skyline was friggin ridicously quiet! you couldnt even hear it going down the track. it looked sweet to say the least. Got to ride in the GT2 Sim Mustangs, pretty slick driving although I would still rather roll with Tarzan

TONS of subaru support I have to say. there was about 3 or 4 evo's I counted, compared to the 100 + subarus at the event. This is what I liked to see! tons of support!

tons of cars out at the event though for sure. Im sure tomorrow will be even better. I have around 200 pictures from all over the venue. Let me say this, Miller Motorsports Park is one of the cleanest, best looking, and nicest motorsports park I've ever seen. Their staff is phenomenal and their food is amazing! Free lunch FTW!

If only I had my cable for my camera I could share these amazing photos with you, but unfortunately I have only this one. Ill post more when I get back to washington!

For anyone debating on coming out, I would highly recommend it. Tarzan is driving the Crawford car and he is a spectacular driver and a great guy. You wont regret coming out here. Moddaddict and I drove 650 miles to come to this!

Take it easy guys!

Drew

I love subaru's so my ish talk has nothing to do with what I drive.. I just find it funny that Crawford continues to get their arse handed to them by a non factory backed company using a old as$ far from ideal platform. LOL imagine what GST would be doing with a new chasis and factory money supporting them... Yeah exactly. Crawford go home.

Good event for sure! Great time hanging out with people, watching the racing, looking at the cool time attack cars, and go karting. The top speed car was super cool.

Didn't Crawford run 1:37's last year in there silver car? Looks like there is a bit more work to do with the new one.

I just went and looked at the official results and Crawford's 08 STi was in the 1:37's at this event too.
Final results for the Unlimited AWD were Subaru, Subaru, Subaru, Subaru, Nissan GTR... I know, I know lightly modified GTR street car against heavily modified Subarus that you can't drive on the street but it is still cool
http://timeattack.files.wordpress.co...nalresults.pdf

PS look at what it says Sheehan was driving

Gary was on it hard out there, he was really pushing.

I give Crawford new car credit, they don't have that much time on the car, I think. They don't seem to have as much tire as the last car.

Really cool watching the old Suby's battle it out. Someone inspect that Honda for tech application

Thank you Top Speed for coming out, that is an awesome car you got there, your so close.

no doubt.. i think you guys are hasslin crawford a bit early.....
speaking with them, they are nowhere near where they want to be with the car and have nothing but a positive outlook for the new chassis..
i think they'll be just fine...

Way to go Subaru!!!!

It was way cool to see the brand dominate the track as far as number of cars there. This event was big, hot, and challenging.

FYI, crawford's silver widebody ran a 1:37.5 last year and with only 3 races on this new car, it ran a 1:37.24............ .3 seconds slower than GST in this event. that's only a wiggle in 1 corner difference. This car is ALL R/D considering there's no aftermarket parts to buy to help the car suspension wise. Unlike ALL prior model year Subaru's.

Topspeed was fast, very fast. They set some quick times in the morning when the air was cooler and track was cooler. it looked like they had set the bar. As the track and air warmed up, everyone got slower. (that what COULD have been run if it wasn't so damn hot).

BTW, did I say that C-West S2000 is WICKED fast!?

DynoComp was very nice to talk to and those guys are having a blast on the track. They beat the crap out of their car, giving people rides and letting it all hang out. They seem to be a very focused team.

It was a great outing for Subaru and I only hope this even is held slightly earlier in the year where the temps aren't so extreme for racing.

i have some way cool pics to post as soon as i can. more cameltoe anyone?

congrats to GST and Crawford for their podium finishes. i thought we had something for the s2000. running a "not quite all out" 1:36.2 in the last practice we were pumped. unfortunately, the intake manifold was cracked and we failed to notice it. see the GTLive thread in the General forum for pics. doh. the aim dash was throwin me all kinds of warnings, goofy afrs, no boost, overheating because the intake crack was huge. i'm honestly shocked we ran the 1:37 in the timed session as the thing just wouldn't boost for anything and limped off corners. but that's racin. once we get this thing dialed in, it's gonna be a beast.

thanks again to cobb. always so hospitable when we're there. it was good to meet all the GST guys too. til next time.

luke

ps - as far as comparing last years times to this years, i was told it was some 50 degrees hotter this year than last. so i think the cars in general are significantly faster than last year.
