Here's a new one... 45+ degrees, I think you can just make out 46* got in after playing golf. Have two FM presets, and they were stuck on "Initializing". Didn't initialize at all on way home, and couldn't select.

We have 4 trim levels as stated earlier. Base, Premium, Sport and Limited, in that order. Only the Sport has 18s.... with 225/40-18s.

Mine did the same thing today. It was the first time I started it in cold weather, 37 degrees. Turning off the car and restarting did not fix it. I did get it back by Restoring Factory Defaults from the Settings menu but of course had to store my presets again.

Got the dead system this afternoon.

Black. No audio. No backup cam. Going to be a few hours before I leave here. Maybe it will be back on.

OK, so I'll edit this thread with updates like smartwentcray did...

1/24/17 - Took delivery of car. Working fine until....

1/29/17 - 3:30pm - 46* FM Presets reverted to "Initializing". Drive 15min and parked over night.

1/30/17 - 6:30am - 35* FM Presets still displaying "Initializing". Set presets back to what they were by holding button. Fine. Drove 4 min. to gas station.

1/30/17 - 6:40am - 35* Radio functioning. Drive to work. 30 min.

1/30/17 - 3:00pm - 40* Radio functioning. Drive 30 min to insurance agent office. In there for about 10min.

1/30/17 - 3:40pm - 41* Radio Functioning. Drive 15 min to registry where I'm parked for an hour.

1/30/17 - 5:05pm - 40* Dead radio. No backup. No radio. No Bluetooth. Drive to convenience store near where trivia night is for 40 min.

1/30/17 - 5:40pm - 40* Dead radio. No backup. No radio. No Bluetooth. Drive to trivia night just down street 2 min.

1/30/17 - 9:30pm - 38* Dead radio. No backup. No radio. No Bluetooth. Drive home 30 min.

1/31/17 - 5:30am - 23* Dead radio. No backup. No radio. No Bluetooth. Drive to work 30 min.

1/31/17 - 3:00pm - 26* Dead radio. No backup. No radio. No Bluetooth. Drive home 30 min.

2/1/17 - 6:30am - 26* Dead radio. No backup. No radio. No Bluetooth. Drive to work 30 min.

2/1/17 - 3:30pm - 46* Dead radio. No backup. No radio. No Bluetooth. Drive home 30 min.

2/2/17 - 5:45am - 31* Dead radio. No backup. No radio. No Bluetooth. Drive to work 30 min.

2/2/17 - 3:30pm - 42* Dead radio. Same as above. Drove 30 min to dealer.

See below for maybe temporary resolution.

I hope Subaru can extend your Sirius XM trial sub once they get a fix for the head unit issues. That's a long quiet drive to work...

Day 4 with my Impreza Sport and my first infotainment gremlin popped up this morning. Started my car to drive to work (the outdoor temp was 26 degrees) and after the disclaimer the screen was stuck on "Starlink Telematics Service in Progress". I drove with it stuck for about 30 minutes then I pulled over and turned the car off, waited a few minutes, then I turned it back on and it was still stuck on the telematics screen. I drove another 30 minutes until I got to work with the screen remaining stuck. My phone was connected to the Bluetooth the entire time, but the radio didn't work. Hitting the "home" or "apps" buttons didn't help either. Hopefully it'll work normally when I get back in the car to drive home this evening. Very frustrating!

The first day I got my car I connected it to my home WiFi network and set the option for the system to automatically check for updates and download them if available. Does this mean IF Subaru/Harman pushes out a S/W update that it will install it automatically when it's connected to my WiFi network or will I have to bring the car in for service to apply the update (assuming a H/W update isn't required)? I'm not expecting an update anytime soon since the problem is still relatively new, but was wondering if I could avoid a stop into my local service station if/when a S/W is available.

I'm just going to back over an infant and blame Subaru for no backup camera.

Yeah c'mon, take one for the team and get them working on this fix... I can't live without apple carplay much longer so if this doesn't get resolved soon I may volunteer to be that infant...

Question for everyone that has had the head unit issue. Do you have the H/K option?

We just have the base Sport and the wife hasn't complained about it not working yet and its been down into the 20's in the mornings.

Your question is a valid one regarding the H/K option. I have the Sport with the H/K option and my screen froze for the first time this morning (only had the car for 4 days) on the Starlink "Telematics Services in Progress" screen. Who actually produces the HUs for the 2017 Impreza? Is it H/K or another 3rd party vendor?

No H/K option in mine - as Base model as you can get.

The wife ringed me today about the headunit having froze on the backup camera screen. First time its happened since we got the car two weeks ago.

Weather: 67 deg.
Location: Garage
Situation: Nothing out of the ordinary. Backed up to...erm..backup. Put into Drive, headunit stuck on last image of backup camera. Yay.

Edit: I'm not going to count out that the "cold weather" thing is the issue. Despite it being a comfy 67 deg out, the parking garage may have been cooler than that earlier this morning.

Mine is also an HK, which shouldn't affect the HU, the only difference is in the speakers and amps, I think. Someone earlier posted that there's a new vendor for the new HU. I'm still waiting on a replacement amp

I just went out to check the infotainment system and this time it started right up without any issues. The outside temp reading was 35 degrees. I'm still thinking it's a cold-related issue (at least for my HU) even though some members have posted their issues occurred on warmer temp days.

1/31/17 - 7:15am - 26 Screen stuck on Starlink "Telematics Service in Progress". Drove 60mins to work.

1/31/17 - 2:00pm - 35 Infotainment screen loaded without any issues. Sat idle for 5 mins.

So I found out today amps are on backorder, so I'll have to wait to see if that fixes any of my issues.

Engine is 80% new. By itself. Suspension is clearly not the same. This car is more "all new" than not.

I'll have to ask our service dept if any of our customers have had Starlink 3 issues. We've been selling a decent amount of them. Our first one froze up first time we played with it. I haven't had that serious an issue since; but, they also don't sit long enough for me to get enough time in them.

2-1-17 We picked up our limited last night (no upgraded speakers). Everything worked great. I got in it to drive it today and no radio. Tried restarting a few times on my way to work as it warmed up (25 minute drive) and no luck. It was ~15 degrees out.

It worked for about 5 start ups including right away in the morning.

2-2-17 It didn't work for my wife when she left for her drive home. 3 miles from home it turned back on. Worked the next 3 times it started after that.

I'm glad I found this thread! I have a Limited and have found that 4 separate times, when I plugged my iPhone in, CarPlay wouldn't show up on the display (8"). The only way I was able to get CarPlay to work again was to factory reset the head unit (a pain, but there are worse things).

I've contacted Subaru and they said to take it to the dealer. I don't have much hope in that, but will do that to at least get it "on record". I keep checking for updates, but there have been none.

Unlike others in this thread, cold has nothing to do with my issues as the lowest temperature my car has been in is maybe the mid 50s.

There is an option under Settings to Factory Reset it. Wipes out presets on the radio, Bluetooth pairing and a few other things.

(Pulling the battery wipes it as well; I disconnected the battery to install auto dimming side mirrors and that reset it.)

Hard to get to settings when the screen doesn't work.

I'll pull the battery cable this afternoon when I get home.

Wow, I feel lucky that my issue is that CarPlay sometimes doesn't work! Hopefully everyone is reporting the issues to Subaru so that they can find a fix.

I reported it. Knowing this is not the only instance, I told them to just tell me when they have a fix and THEN I'll bring it in.

I was told to bring it to a "retailer so they can properly diagnose and document my concern".

My concern has been documented already, SOA, by telling you. All the dealer's gonna do is "yep, it doesn't work" and probably pull the battery to reset with a "bring it back in if it happens again."

Same here, but mine is intermittent and the response I'll get is "it works for me". So I'll waste time taking it to a dealer.
