Hey everyone,

I have a question, ive been dealing with a dealer 2hours from where i live. And they have the car i want coming in, in about a week (13 wrx 5 door dark grey).

My question is do i have to be there in person to do the paper work? or can i have them fax everything over and get the car shipped??

Iim real busy with work to get the car plus id rather not drive a new car that hasnt been broken in 200 miles without even be able to enjoy it.

The salesman initially had told me i would have to come in, but not im thinking to tell him, either we do it my way or forget the sale.

Please let me know what you think, thanks!!

I ordered my car from FL and they are overnighting me the paperwork. I didn't want to drive a new car 800 miles all highway back b/c it's not proper.

Yes I got quotes from $370-$1,000 on my own and paying for it. By the time I fly down and pay for gas it would be same as shipping anyhow. I reviewed companies and found out who could get it here soon. I'm actually still waiting on my paperwork from the dealer. The car should take 2-3 days from FL to VA.

They tell me "sure we can put them on... for $80" and they were serious. Uhh wut? I'm no paying half of the flaps just to have them installed. B.S. man. But I guess ill just throw them on myself.
I asked my dealer if they could throw them on and they said no problem. They also said it was going to take a week once my car got to the dealership to put everything on that didn't get installed at port.

No offense cashmoneymike, but I work on cars for a living, and i know if a salesman came back to the shop and asked if I could throw on some aftermarket parts on a new car for free I would laugh his happy ass all the way back to the sales floor. And $80 bucks isn't even an hours worth of labor. Inspectah, you got lucky.

Chill nerd.

Mud flaps =/= rocket science install. Maybe they weren't typical dealership scum.

I thought i could give you a little insight on this one. You do NOT have to sign the document's in person. You DO have to sign the original documents. meaning you will have to have them overnight the paperwork and then overnight them back. The resistance you are getting from the salesperson is his management wanting you to sit in the business office and buy ext warranties, service plans, gap insurance etc. That is where the money is made in the dealership is that small room with the business manager. So of course they want you there in person its also a lot more effective.

If you want to help your cause tell him you have no problem discussing insurance and warranties with a business manager before they send you out the paperwork.

I know this because i am a internet salesman at the Toyota dealership here in town and have sold a lot of out of town customer's vehicles and never met them.

Hope that helps.

I just figured they would be kind enough to put a set of mud flaps on my car for free since their not really giving me a deal on my vehicle which is almost $38k not to mention I'm approaching week 15 on my wait time while everyone else is 8-12. I can easily do it myself, just thought it was worth asking.

It never hurts to ask, I'm just saying most technicians don't like to work for free. And the service side and the sales side of a dealership are two totally different worlds. If we did everything sales asked us to do for free we would't make a money. Congrats on the car by the way. I'm sure you will love the sti.

I can totally agree with you on how they are two totally different things, like you said it didn't hurt to ask. I'm gonna have to be careful because upon installing these a lot of people either break 1 plastic clip, or something goes wrong with the fender liner lol plus like I said the roads by my dealership are pretty sh***y so I wouldn't want to even slightly risk something on a white car especially. Just sucks all these guys are getting their deliveries within 8-12 weeks and here I am still waiting. I currently drive an 06 STi which I'm trading in, I love these cars with a passion. I feel like I could never come to find myself purchasing anything other than another STi or even just a Subaru in general. Once I hit dad status = Legacy GT lol and those can be modded just as easy.

That's a good attitude to have. We have so many customers that feel so self entitled. Just take your time with the flaps and I'm sure your wont have any problems. I can understand the clips breaking on an older car, you should be fine with it being brand spanking new.
