I dont have facebook installed anymore though.. so I still come here. Facebook doesnt show on google searches so once a topic dies.. its gone.. and gets reasked again and again on FB.

Also, agree with someone earlier saying its a pain you cant go more than a page of threads back when browsing.

Forum software development of new features seems pretty dead too... which doesnt help.

Also.. subaru hasnt made a new WRX/STI to get people talking about MODs for a while..
Other platforms have a lot of junk, it is up to you to sort it out.
I have been here for a long time, my son uses FB and other sites a lot. Heck, he is "staff" on a NJ FB site.
When in doubt, he contacts me.....FWIW......dad has more tools, better at digging out of holes.
I am NOT on FB or other info sites.
I stay away from my son's sites so he can rule, I shudder at some of what I see.

As to browsing, for whatever reason on here, some sections show everything, some show last week or so, seems regardless of how you set up some sections. Maybe pay attention to search parameters, say go back to beginning, vs. last week.
Just some thoughts.

As a lurker, I tend to just search and read most of the time. NASIOC really needs an abridged version.

Well... FU too, dude . My beloved brz was totaled in March. I have never gone this long without a car I enjoy driving (well, our family Outback kind of counts, but since my wife insisted on a CVT...) and I am damn straight chomping at the bit to get my new car and show off pictures. Not because she's unique but because she'll be mine, ordered the way I want her, the first car I've actually I ordered instead of buying off the lot, and here is where I expect to find people who understand how special that is.

This is my subie. There are many like it but this one is mine.

Folks on here get that and appreciate it. Hopefully it'll spark tales of nostalgia as well as pics of beloved subies past when they were new.

My friends (who I know in real life) would just give me the "nice car. Why didn't you buy an Accord?" line because even though they're good friends, cars were ever only a passing thrill they indulged in just for the rush when they were younger and not a passion that sticks around even as tastes mature.

Speaking of mature tastes, while I can't wait to get my hands on my new WRX, I genuinely really like the Ascent especially as a father. Our outback is perfect for us (especially since we bought it outright, no lein), but if we end up having more than 2 kids, I'll be shot down dead before I get a Toyota Sienna or Honda Odessy. Hell no. And that Ascent looks perfect. And with that 250bhp 2.4DIT and low engine, I can imagine it'll be quite satisfying to drive around as the family vehicle.

But for my personal use and short range family hauler, give me my MT performance sedan or hatch! Nothing else will do since as a family man, my wife has told me that unless we can truly afford 3 cars, then I'm not not allowed a 2dr coupe or convertible. And the GTI is just too sedate.

Hey People who want to talk about their new car and people that want to show off their built engines and those who want to talk about the endless debate over oil... Well its all good in my book.

The trolls that want to just write three word sentence insults, yeah, not so much.

I am nearly done with a build and want to show it off. I think I will do it here. I have learned not to start a build thread until the build is done so that way I won't be cursed by "The Cures of the Never Finished Build Thread". Its a 3rd Gen LGT Wagon with turbo swap. Its built with 100% stock Subaru parts so it's like the car that Subaru never built.

I've been using car forums since I got into the game almost 20 years ago and I must says the early 2000's they were booming. Back then I mostly frequented the SR20Forums and Nissan forums. I've since been back and they are mostly stagnant, old friends have moved on to other platforms or family business.

Whenever I have a issue or question about my cars or any other car I'm working on or have issues with the Forums is the first place I hit.Sometimes I have to sort through trolls to get what I am looking for but the information is always there.

In my opinion the reason for this is Facebook like most have said and also seeing a response to one of their fist posts saying "search noob, this topic has been covered/talked about before". Also I've seen mods instantly lock necroed threads from time to time when someone was following up with a question they had after searching.

NASIOC is still the go to spot for technical information and advice. The social networking sites are more ideal for meets, ride a longs and the annoying YOHB/YOHG. I'm always posting to Facebook and Reddit to come here when folks ask technical questions.

I've been using NASIOC for 6 years and never had to post anything. All the answers are here. The EJ has'nt changed nor have the problems associated.

Which, good or bad, is why, "go search" gets used a lot.
I understand it can be offputting to get that reply and I am guilty of that at times.
I try to ignore those threads rather then come off as a butthead.
