Details:
-Purchased the car 6 months ago to be used as a daily and an autocross car.
-Currently at 106,000 miles.
-Car is autocrossed hard about twice a month.
-Car is totally stock except for a K&N air filter and front sway bar. Original engine.
-I change the oil every 2-3 thousand miles with AMSoil.
I am an anxious person by nature, and believe I have done a reasonable job keeping up with maintenance and preventative measures so far. A fellow WRX driver and autocrosser has helped me with getting to know the car's tendencies and possible failure modes. I always try to keep the revs above 3000 when autocrossing or accelerating hard.
I wanted to post this question to gauge what the general consensus is on how long this engine can potentially last.
Is it typical to see these engines last more than 150,000 miles when taken care of? Besides ringland failure, what other high cost failure modes could I potentially have? Thanks in advance.
