I for one cannot wait to get a new WRX that's 90% based on a 5 year old Impreza with some fake carbon fiber trim taped onto the interior that was considered outdated 5 years ago.

It's going to be such a disappointment if they're just going to use the same styling/shape/etc as the outgoing Impreza that's probably being replaced in the next 6-12 months.

My wife has a 2019 Impreza and my bet is you get a bigger screen in the new WRX but the rest of the interior is the same down to the fake carbon fiber trim. A thought that has been tickling me following these threads though lately is the possibilities of the Toyota hot hatch prospect. If they follow the pattern of the BRZ, that hatch is going to be based upon the Impreza hatch but with a turbo engine, wide body kit and a different front and rear treatment.

Now they need to fix the steering, the steering on her car is pretty numb. It has a descent weight to it, but not much road communication. Could the interior be better, yes, but that is going to move the car up market. You want more expensive finishes you are going to start paying a lot ore money. We had an Audi SUV rental car a year ago for a trip and while I liked it once you looked away from the dash, the interior was as cheap as Subaru. It gave you a glimpse of nice, then the minute your eyes moved from the up high stuff it started getting cheap fast.

But yes the new WRX will be the cheap impreza interior.

I’ll take the fake carbon fiber trim over the reflective, finger print magnet, black lacquer trim that is so popular now, or perhaps even worse the clownish, tacky red sometimes used.
FWIW, I like brushed aluminum, perhaps with a gun metal finish.

Check out the Levorg and you have your answer. Levorg interior seems like a mix between Impreza and Legacy. Should be fine in the next WRX.

I dig the renders from that Japanese magazine. The interior looks mighty fine to me. At this point people will complain about anything.

But it's the BEST version of the previous Impreza while not actually being remotely related at all to the Impreza!

Yeah GR/GV is has definitely aged the best of all the WRX/STI models. Unfortunately Subaru has moved the styling to more angular straight lines and the hexagonal arches aren't going to lend well to a widebody look.
