Ordering TRD Pro (matte gray) wheels for my ‘16 Trail Edition — such original! But, they are a great looking wheel with stock size A/Ts and you can’t get OEM quality for that price anywhere else.
I considered bronze, but I decided that the silver bumper covers on the TRD OR/TE would clash. OEM TPMS sensors are $60 each. I can use the techstream at work to reprogram between my winter wheelset and my A/Ts, so why not do it right for an extra $250?

Those will look real nice Q. I have the KO2's in stock size right now too bad you aren't local I'd sell you mine when I go up in size with my lift.

I have Nitto Terra grapplers already. They were mounted on my stock wheels until I mounted snow tires back in the fall. |

Ahh perfect! I’m considering a second set of wheels for the summer too after the lift. Not sure it’s worth it though, I know the KO2’s aren’t real snow tires but they do well enough in the snow here to not feel real worried about getting a set for snow. Some say the Falken Wildpeak AT’s are pretty good in snow too. Realistically they just need to be able to handle 25mph on I-70 considering how mad the traffic is most times I’m headed to the mountains. |

Those TRD wheels are perfect for the 4R and Tacoma. They put the tire in the perfect place to take advantage of a little more hight and width without clearance issues.
The Nokian Rotiiva AT Plus is a good all around AT tire that is good in snow/cold. They won't compete with real snow tires but they are far better than most AT tires in snow. |

I love the Terra Grapplers... except when the temps get below freezing. The compound gets too firm. The Michelin snow tires were a noticeable improvement. As far as noise, day to day handling, and off-road/mud grip, the Terra Grapplers truly are a Goldilocks tire from spring through fall, though. I also like that I’ll get that look change up to keep the vehicle from feeling too same old same old.

I got a bad taste in my mouth on the Terra Grapplers when I got a cut in the center of the tread 2” or so long. I suspect whatever cut it would have done damage to lots of tires but I don’t know what it was. They had about 30k miles on them at the time and weren’t gonna last much longer anyway but I was bummed.

You guys don’t like the Terra Grapplers in snow?
That is super surprising to me. They are the stock tires on my Pro 4R, and they are the best AT tire I’ve ever experienced for snow / ice. Obviously they aren’t as good as dedicated winter tires, but this is my second south central Alaskan winter on them and have been shocked at how well they perform. |

I never tried them in snow. I feel the same way about my KO2’s though. Plenty sufficient.

Nokian rotiivas are surprisingly good in the snow in my experience. Bought a second set. They serve me very well in tahoe winters and the rest of the year they are quiet on road and durable and capable off.
I replaced winter tires with them and i felt they performed better than the winter tires did. |

Decided to stop by one of the local dealerships today. They actually had an army green TRD off-road with the premium/leather option. Test drove it and es surprised. When I was in my buddies ‘17 TRD sport the interior felt underwhelming with quality. This was much better. Leather was better quality and road noise was improved. Took it on the highway to make sure. This one had a bunch of tacked on accessories and tipped just over $46k, none of it was what I needed.
I’m realizing the six speed is a bit of a unicorn, he searched while we drove and no leather AG TRD off-road manuals are within 300 miles. He did say they have two AG allocations that may be leather manuals, and will send the spec sheet when he finds out but not for at least 6 weeks as production is paused. It will give me time to order up my finances and hopefully they get another stick of any trim so I can test it first before I decide that’s what I need. |

They’re not terrible or anything. Getting dedicated snow tires was half the excuse to get another set of wheels, though. |

My friend with the gx’s lift stuff is supposed to all be in this week so it looks like we will put the Dobinson stuff on Saturday for him. Looking forward to that install partially because I miss wrenching on cars and partially because I think it will be good to work it all out on his so I’m well-practiced when my lift comes.

I went with General Tire Grabber APT, load range E. $1055 installed. OEM size.
Nokians were 45 minutes away. Aint nobody got time for that. No idea on snow feel as it stopped as soon as I got them on. deeper lug for good rain and slush performance. No too aggressive for road life. Just in time for my spring pilgrimage to SC for the Sandblast rally. 2000 mile round trip pulling my 6'x12' box trailer. I ran a set of E load Duratracs on my 4Runner for a little while. Hated it the entire time, sold them and replaced them with some C loads which ride way better.

I went from 32" BFG MudTerrain KM tires (Stock tires on my JK) to 33" BFG Mud Terrain KM3 tires. Ugh, they rode like crap and my fuel economy (I know, right?) on my Jeep went from 18.5mpg average to 15.5mpg. They were freakin HEAVY compared the nearly the same size tire stock. Yes, they were quieter, but really? They felt WAY heavier! I should have weighed them. Then I re-geared and went to 37" Milestar Patagonia tires (I know, now I need to get a YooToob channel) and gained some fuel economy back. mounted 37" tires weighing less than the 33" E-loads. Unless you NEED the load rating (You don't) don't go to e-load tires.

Ive been running the e rated nokians for about 60k now, second set. They are the least e rated feeling of all the e rateds ive used, but you definitely notice in the mpg dept. At least i properly need them but cant wait to find a daily driver so i dont have to drive on em all the time.

The Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors I had on my old 4Runner might as well have converted my transmission to a 4 speed due to the weight. God, those tires sucked. |

My preferred Toyota dealer got back to me, gonna be a 2-4 month wait for a build. I’m fine with that. Window quotes for the house are coming back cheaper than expected leaving some extra cash too. I think I’m gonna do this.
