1300's won't fuel 490whp on pump gas? I figured it was my stock feed lines and single aem340.

Tested for boost leaks and found a big one right at the turbo inlet. I moved the clamp for better access to the wastegate a few days ago and obviously didn't tighten it enough but still no boost. Checked the boost controller and the solenoid has zero ohms of resistance and doesn't click with 12v applied to it. Ordered a new one so hopefully that's been the problem all along.

New boost controller is in, now I have boost again but the weather has turned. With any luck I'll get another day out before they salt the roads but that might be wishful thinking. I'm glad it won't be put away with issues before I update the fueling system and create more headaches.

Bit of an update! Turns out that boost leak damaged the bearings in the turbo so it was spooling slow and making crap power after we retuned with the new boost controller. I ended up installing a new radium hanger with a walbro 450 and 8an feed 6an return lines. The car is now putting down 540whp and 470tq at ~30.5psi. 4200rpm it's at 20psi and full boost at 4600rpm and revving to 7500rpm. Still on 94oct Canadian pump gas. I'm MUCH happier now and I can finally enjoy this thing and the 500whp goal has been well surpassed.

I know you don't have access. But that thing is begging for some ethanol. You'd easily find another 75 whp/tq.

I'm moving in the next few months and I think there's pump E about 45min away. If not I'll probably get a barrel of it. I don't drive much so it won't be a pain but I really wanted to get the car running properly on pump before messing around. I'll probably need bigger injectors and another pump too. For now I'm happy

1700's at a minimum and maybe a 450-525 lph pump. But if you're going to do it maybe one of the radium drop in fuel pump hangers. I use one with twin aem 320's. You could at least reuse the pump you have with a second added in for some extra support.
You could probably make the power you are now with ethanol and less boost though. Last edited by Black90tsiawd; 05-22-2024 at 08:34 AM. |

I have a radium hanger and 450 pump in now with 8an feed 6an return lines, could add my 340 or another 450 easily.. All this was the plan when the car was initially built but with all the teething problems it's set things back. I really only had 1mo of the car running properly until now. After the move and locating E I'll go further with it. I want some stability first before I start messing with it again. I think if I want to go high hp I'd switch out from the g series, they seem to be a bit fragile when pushed hard but I wanted 500hp and good spool for a street car. Both goals have been met.

Both of you're goals could be met with less boost on ethanol. It would spool faster and be easier on the motor long term. Another 100 whp shouldn't really be pushing that turbo too far. It's rated in the low 80's lbs/min range.

For sure, it's just not easy to get at the moment. I'm not against it at all, just been a **** show getting to this point.

Turns out there’s a e85/e98 retail supplier 10min from my house. ID1300’s are coming out for a set of 2150’s and adding a second fuel pump. The stock porting and intake manifold will no doubt be the bottle neck. Hopefully I’ll have some numbers and a graph before the end of the nice weather and my clutch holds up.

on petro91 with meth at 36psi, i hit 630whp. full boost at 4900ish. there is literally no E station in Ontario. i can get it in a barrel but i don't want to store e in my garage for insurance purpose.

If I didn't have the access I have to it, I wouldn't bother but I've read too many horror stories about meth systems. I know they have failsafes but things can always go wrong. Maybe I'll add it later but I wouldn't use it to make more power.
I have the room to store the fuel not inside my garage and I should be able to use two drums in 6mo so it won't sit long. If I run through it so be it. I don't really need +600hp to enjoy the car, I just can't leave well enough alone. |

Be warned. You're going to get the car tuned on e, run through those barrels and then look at your car with disgust on your features at the thought of driving it on pump gas. |

lol ya I’m fairly certain pump gas will be more of an emergency use only type deal once I get going on E.
I’ve got all the components now and mostly ready to start tuning. Installed my previous pump so I’ve got a aem340 on a 15psi Hobbs switch with the Walbro 450. New 2150 injectors will go in for the weekend or early next week as well as swapping out the last couple lines from the garbage torque solution “e85” rubber line kit. I need to wire in the ethanol sensor and run the wires to my AiM dash for E content as well as fuel temp. I also just installed an innovative wideband as well as tapped into my MAP/FP sensor and got those wires to the AiM unit to see their data instead of running new sensors. I’d post pics but I don’t know how anymore, seems like it changes every month. |

Post them up over on iwsti. I'd like to see this digital dash or whatever it is.

Finished up tuning right before the snowfall and roads were salted. My previous tuner didn't want to tune on E85 so I did a remote road tune that seemed to take a lot longer than I expected but it's done before storage so I'm happy. Ended up around 31psi on E80 and 20psi on pump but once the temperature dropped I think that 340 pump was struggling to keep up and the car wasn't able to keep the AFR in the safer zone in the upper rpm. The goal was for ~650whp, which according to the tuner, we should be close to at that psi. My clutch wasn't liking launches/ffs when I was at 540 on pump gas so I didn't want to push much further and at this boost level it should keep the car more reliable. What a difference E makes for how the torque comes in. I think over the winter I'll find some 1700's for better drivability, clean up some of the wiring under the hood, get a vibrant resonator welded in (the drone is too much), and powder coat a few things.
I'll get the car on the Dyno in the spring to see how it actually looks. |

You damn flex tease!
Why didn't your local tuner want to do ethanol? That seems like a weird thing for a tuner to refuse to do. |

I want to see the numbers just as badly lol. It feels like it was worth the extra hassle to get here but I'd like some real confirmation.
The tuner said he doesn't like ethanol, "it's dirty fuel", and wanted me to run VP C16. My local VP supplier doesn't carry that fuel and I'm sure it's a heck of a lot more money than E. Not to mention more hassle to use compared to a flex fuel setup I'm sure. Map switching, trying to get all the pump gas out to run the VP and vice versa. One day I'd surely forget to swap maps and blow it up. Hopefully he has no issues with just strapping the car down and doing a few pulls for proper comparison. Worst case I'll find a different Dyno, put my 1300's back in with the old tune then swap back over to the flex tune with the new injectors and E. |

I don’t expect anything AEM to be quality anymore. It’s either rebranded stuff or crap.
I run an aquamist system with a digital flow sensor and programmed fail safes for under or overflow conditions. It picks up plugged or broken lines and automatically map switches if it senses trouble. |
