Front differential: 1.5qts
Rear Differential: 0.8 qts
Differentials use Gear Oil not cvt/tranny fluid.....

Unless we are talking 5MT, then it's 4.5qts Gear Oil for everything

+1, but apparently for drpoop, his manicure is too precious to get damaged or get dirty so even a lightbulb swap for him is a daunting task.

I never took it down. I had to put in new relays this summer because the location wasnt as waterproof as i thought, they were really corroded. This time i used relay sockets and taped everything up well.

Looks like my '12 will be my last Impreza. If someday, Subaru fires the soccer moms from their design team, I might have another look.
I know this is going back a few pages, but I thought I'd share this info. The new redesigned 2017 imprezas will have a 5 speed manual option.

Thanks, but the article only confirms the manual for Canada.

On subaru.com, it looks like the manual is available in the 2.0i and sport.

It's still not available in limited or premium, but now there is a 5MT sport sedan, which is good news.

Just to chyme in, 2017 Impreza sports received torque vectoring. But again, 5 hp gain was little disappointing.

You're going to need a tesla with motors on each wheel for power based vectoring...

Looking for some help diagnosing a coolant loss.

So I noticed my coolant was down below the low line (when cold) in the overflow tank.

While waiting to get coolant (about 2 weeks) the level went down by about a cm maybe less.

Since then I have filled it up and am going to put a mark where it's at so I can track the loss.

I am doing an oil change this weekend so will look for coolant in the oil. I haven't seen or smelled any coolant so don't think it's leaking anywhere.

Is there anything else I should check like the radiator cap for instance?

I bet $1000 you're not losing coolant. Also there was no need to buy a whole jug of coolant to sit around... if it was just below the full line you only need to add literally a few spoonfuls of water to bring it back up. Does not affect freezing temperature.

Some coolant evaporates off over time, both water and EG are volatile... How many miles do you have on your car? I had to put like half a cup of water in last year because it was below the low line cold, but I didn't "lose" any coolant in the way that you're thinking.

I don't think I'm losing coolant either but I'm just watching it closely to make sure.

I think the coolant was low from the ambient temp going down ~75 to ~45

I bought my car a month ago and I don't remember where it was at the time of purchase.

I probably only put a half cup in to get it halfway between the low and high mark.

I figure I will use the coolant eventually anyways.

Anyone see this? I know it's not AWD but it's another option, although a little more expensive than the Impreza for some reason. But it's turbo standard and gets 40mpg. Manual available.

inb4 "chevy is unreliable"

Just another option. Nowhere did I say it was an Imp killer, Keen and Flyboy (yeah that's right, I can predict what you're going to post before you even know what you're going to post)

Looks good and the base price for the mileage is great.

I would so do this if it was AWD

The only reason I really went for the Subaru was I couldn't get the mileage I wanted for the price including AWD.

Most places to add AWD if it was even available added so much to the price it wasn't worth it.

Only thing is GM only puts 4WD on their trucks and full size SUVs. I don't know that they have ever had any of their cars AWD. I think their few AWD vehicles also have some part time AWD junk that I don't generally go for.

There's definitely an advantage to owning a car that was designed as AWD from the ground up, rather than a FWD retrofit.

Transverse AWD cars are almost as goofy as longitudinal FWD cars.

Coolant will evaporate over time, but at the rate DieselDorf has mentioned, it's not possible.

Have you recently flushed your coolant system? If you did, it could be possible that there are still air bubbles trapped in the system, and it's just slowly coming out.

If not, you either have:
1. A headgasket going out. Highly doubt it, but possible.
2. Cracked radiator. Get it pressure tested. Could be possible. My miata had a hairline crack right at the radiator cap. It would only leak when the system got really hot.
