I mean even if you cover it up, the mystery alone of whats behind that cover may compel a thief to break in.

A few hours ago a bunch of scumbags were arrested for breaking into cars one block over, i'd be so angry if they got me. I'm going to relocate my speaker amp into my trunk and somehow hide the trunk lever so the only way in is through my remote. All I'd have to worry about is my soon to be delivered headunit. :s

I park in my garage, so I'm not too worried, but some dark tint can always help to mask the goods at night. Not much else to do.

Side note. cool feature I just discovered last week (i may be late to the party on this, but my 4100 did not do this so i'm stoked):
You can press the artist name while a song is playing from the ipod to immediately go the artists list. This works the same with pressing the song to go to the songs list, and albums to go to albums list.

The JVC KWAV-70bt (similar to the 4400BH) is detachable face... FYI... just put one in my car..

You have to step up to the 8400 Pio to get a detachable...

FWIW the JVC KWAV-60bt is also detachable face and if i'm not mistaken so is the 50bt..

Enjoy..

Has anyone gotten motion x to start up in app mode? I have installed the microbypass and checked its connectivity by checking to see if a dvd will play with and without the parking brake and it does. I am using the pioneer cable for the ipod as well. When i go into app mode and start up motion x i just get a blank screen any thoughts?

Late to the game but my pics and review:

Out with the Barely used (3.5 month old AVH-P4300DVD):

In with the new (AVH-P4400BH). I wanted BT and HD. Looked at the modules and was all F that, for that price I can upgrade to the new 2012 model that has that stuff integrated already :woot:

HD!!! I can't tell jack difference. Is nice the radio tags are nicer on HD, and some stations have multiple HD channels

BT Audio (I stream Pandora) and BT Tele

Ipod

Ring a ding

Of course with any project I do I turn it into a PITA. Took me forever to re-map all the steering wheel buttons and test them out. Come to find out the AVH-P4400BH doesn't do PTT, so I have to manually call someone on the HU, no biggie, but would have been nice to hit one button on the steering wheel and say "Call home"

The car came with a stock BT phone mic, but of course it didn't work w/ the aftermarket HU. Had to re-run the wire and the mic to the map light area, another PITA. With it mounted here people say I sound just fine (car moving doing 40mph and windows up).

Impressions:
I LOVE BT audio and hands free phone calls. Now I won't miss a call cause I'm rockin out. Yeah yeah I now, welcome to 2005. HD is a waste IMO, I'd have been PISSED if I had spent $80 or so on the module for that kind of ROI.

Biggest way to tell hd sounds better is turn up a radio station pretty loud then wait for the "hd" signal to pick up and kick in.

Other than that you probably wont see a huge improvement if only listening at low levels.

Here you are fellas.

My unit should be delivered tomorrow. I have the bypass already. Is there any special grounding instructions or is the ground wire already built into the harness all you need?

LOL that's awesome! I might have to order that just for kicks even if I won't use it much. That thing's hilarious. I live in small town but I'm sure they'll be times I would like my HU to not look so nice and expensive.

**Deal on XM at Crutchfield *
Just ordered this XM kit for my 3300BT.
- Pioneer GEX-P920XM
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130P920...0XM.html?tp=87

It's $99.99, but you get $50 visa card by mail, so it's only $50. Use the $50 card to fill tank or anything.

I had about 1150 Crutchfield points from my previous purchases totalling $29 -- So I only paid like $20 to add XM satellite radio to my Pioneer HU. Not bad!

What I was told by my installer when I bought the HU was that it's possible, but the plastic face that the aux and USB inputs are housed in would have to be modified to fit the Pioneer adapter. Basically if I wanted to put it back to stock in the future, I'd have to find a new liner for my console. I just had them run it through to the glove box instead.

Just what I was told, not sure if anyone else disagrees or not.

I retained the use of my USB input in the center console with my Pioneer Z130BT. Like stated I just had to modify the USB and 3.5mm input to fit in the center console housing. Then just run the wire from center console to h/u.

Hey do any of you know of a good rear view camera that fit's an 08+ Impreza sedan that works with these head units? I haven't poked around the forum too much yet, but maybe there's one camera that everyone uses that works the best or something.

I was hoping it was as simple as unplugging the usb end off stuck hu and plugging it into the back of aftermarket one.

Unfortunately no, but it takes just a little bit of modification. Took maybe 30 min total to get it in the casing, installed in the console, and wire ran to h/u.

i ran mine into the glove box, but would be cool to use the original location. did the mod "ruin" the OEM part or is it reversible?

Just ordered this, as well as the Sound Ordnance B-8pt and of course all the other wiring kits I needed. Can't wait to install this.

I have no interest in the DVD part, so I wasn't going to install a parking brake bypass but read that you need to use the parking brake to use the bluetooth phone function? Can anyone confirm this? Or can you use the phone functions regardless of parking brake?
Thanks!

phone function is limited without the bypass. i believe direct dial is blocked, as well as phone book. get the bypass. it's cheap easy and you can decide how to use your H/U.

How is everyone's reception with the p4400bh? I've read some people are having issues picking up the stations that their factory units did?

no issue on mine. However, I rarely use the tuner, and if i do it tends to be stations with a decent signal. That, and i only had the stock H/U in my car for a week.

My FM reception sucks on the 3300BT but ok with strong signal.. Would'nt be surprised if they are using the same tuner on this as the 4400. I was going to return it but I don't think it's defective, just the way it is. I'm going to just get XM and forget about it, only use FM when I have very strong signal. FM does sounds amazing once that signal is perfect, just doesn't happen all that often.
