Default Bren Tuning Review

For those of you that are considering getting your car tuned, I highly recommend getting tuned with Brendan at Bren Tuning

I wrote a full review here:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...0#post36002850

But cliff notes are +58whp, +95lbft on a bone stock 2011 WRX and safer than the stock map!!!

Will post graphs shortly

A good tune is a beautiful thing

What were (or are generally on the dyno used) the baseline numbers?

Congrats on your improved car!

Congrats. Nice numbers. I keep thinking I'm gonna go with a bigger turbo and visit Bren again but have a small issue with buying cars. I'm hoping to hit 200whp with my Miata next year. Putting a new clutch in cause 8psi is way to much for the stock clutch.

Bren if you see this, is there any room in a B7 S4 for tuning. That's probably my next addition to the garage unless I find a sweet Datsun 510 that's not on the west coast.

There is plenty room in a B7 S4. I have done a few. Great car. Let us know [email protected].

He's tuned my MY02 WRX 3 different times and has been nothing but professional and flexible. He has gone way over and beyond any expectations I would ever have of a tuner. If I had a car I could tune now, I would've already had him done in by now.
For now, I'll enjoy my 08 Legacy 2.5i

+1 for Bren tuning. I've been tuned twice by Bren. Best service and quality tune in the area. +50 whp and +100 wtq gains on my 07 wrx, and I'm getting 2-4 better gas mileage to boot.

Just to follow up...

I met up with Brendan today after HE contacted me about a concern he had with the car... He reviewed some of the logs and though I might have a boost leak @ the throttle body hose

After a boost leak test, some wrenching and wrestling we found the issue and it was exactly what he predicted. Took the car on the road, made some tweaks and the car pulls even harder now!!

I can not reiterate enough how great my experience has been with Brendan. Needless to say I will be going back after some more mods

i haven't had personal experience w/ bren but when i was looking for a rex i stumbled across his blog and the history, goals, plan of each car he brings into his shop and tunes. that spoke volumes to me as a consumer.

i've been avoiding the mod-bug but if it ever bites bad enough, i def would make the trip.

What did you do to find out it was coming out of the Throttle body hose?

They did a boost leak test is what he said, so either they capped the inlet and pressurized the system, or they used a smoke tester. Either would likely work.

When you cap the inlet you just take off the intake and cap the Turbo inlet ? Sorry just trying to figuring out how to locate my boost leak.

This is what we did
http://www.turboboostleaktesters.com...ARU/Categories

We simply capped the intake after the airbox and pressurized the system (about 15psi) and listened for any leaks

YAH! +1 for Bren too! I've had my FXT tuned twice by him and he's thorough. Great experience and he's a lot of fun.

Where's my stickers at?

I've been working with Bren for 3 years. Great guy, excellent tuner. Ben is a great tech, Chris is pretty good to talk to. I couldn't be happier with how the car came out. Looking forward to having them work on my next car, whatever it may be. 5 stars, would highly recommend
