Last time I heard someone had a clunk from their suspension right after changing springs, they didn't seat the spring in the upper hat properly.

I just took the car in for what sounded like a right-rear suspension noise. Sounded like a bad shock, but it turned out to be the right-rear folding seat back rattling. The dealer made an adjustment, and now it's quiet again. They had a tech riding around in the trunk and back seat for a while while another one drove around to figure it out. At least they looked like they were having fun.

I have a quick question that hopefully someone can answer

I'm looking in purchasing a IMpreza soon, and I researched online and found out the ''older" subaru's with a 4 speed auto were actually 90/10 split of power, while the MT's were 50/50.

I always thought their AT's were also 50/50 split, since they keep advertising themselves as "Symmetrical AWD"

So my question is, is it still a 90/10 split on the current gen impreza/legacy's 4 spd AT?

Thanks in advance.

I had the exact same issue, same seat, noise etc. I resolved it with electrical tape, per the advice on this forum.

That makes at least 2 people with the same problem with the same seat.

Do you know what they did to fix it?

Adjusted the striker, and now the sound is gone. I am not sure how they adjusted it, though. I had my 3 year old with who is a handful, so I was unable to watch or ask many questions.

Hey dees421, I hope you will read this... I noticed my windows (fronts) are like that too. When you roll them down, stop like 1/4, and then go down again it makes this rather loud "clunk" sound. If you roll the window all the way down it doesn't, but when you stop, roll it down again, it makes the "clunk" noise. I experimented with it, if you put your hand on the window and put a small pressure, while rolling the window down, it doesn't make the noise. I gathered that it makes the noise because it hits the frame of the window. I'm not sure if this is normal, cause I never noticed it till now. Any updates on your end?

I'll be picking up my new 08 5MT 2.5i tomorrow. Spark Silver metallic, fully loaded with satellite radio, touch screen navi. I've taken her on 2 test drives now and I'm liking it. I personally love the way the engine sounds, with the electronic hum. Shifting is smooth, clutch is nice. I love the controls on the steering wheel.

ALthough... Why did subaru design the fuel gauge so that a blind man can see it from 2 miles away??

There is no temperature guage like on the WRX or the STI guages so they just made the fuel guage bigger

Has anyone looked into a rear disc swap for the base model?

I believe the 09 2.5i's come stock with rear discs. So I guess you could source parts from them.

Symmetrical refers to the placement of the engine in reference to the drive shaft. A symmetrical placement eliminates torque steer, which is something you don't want when driving on slippery surface. The automatic transmission's center differential is active versus the manual transmission's differential which is reactive. Both are awesome in their own right.

Possible frist mods:
-35% tint all around (shes pearl white, I gotta tint her)
-Sport Grille
-Front under spoiler
-STi Pinks

Pinks first! Everything else on your list is pure cosmetic.

Ya I thought the same thing but lets be serious...its the 2.5i...its not a race car. I just want a nice clean lookin car. The main reason I want the pinks is for the nice stance. Although the better handling is a plus.

Trust me. Drive the stock set up for a hundred miles or so and take it through some turns. Once you add the pinks, the driving experience is so much better. I had them installed on my 08 OBS and IMO, it's like night and day handling. I really didn't even care about the stance. I wanted less body roll and a bit of a stiffer ride.
