I'll give the movie a shot. I haven't been to the movie theater in awhile or I can just stay home and watch the Aryton Senna Documentary

BTW Does anyone know when the dates for next seasons race will be released?
I want to see if I can plan a vacation around the same time the Australian GP is happening.

I think one of the best things about f1 is the unique and crazy engineering. How about limit the development budget/time/etc, but still allow for differences in design? Engineering should play 1/2 the role in any race IMO and driving the other 1/2. If I wanted spec races, I'd watch them. I watch racing for the same reason I watched lance armstrong. I love seeing someone get utterly beat. I hate it when another driver is defensively holding a position and another driver behind him could clearly over take and do better if not for that. I just want to see each team turn out their best possible times and witness the sheer speed of it all.

I think you guys missed my point..

I hate how its being billed as hollywoodesque F1 movie vs. just an F1 movie.

basically I hate the marketing campaign and its turned me off.

All the comments I've heard are amazing, but left to just the trailers...I wouldnt say its any better than Driven (the stallone movie from 12 years ago).

I thought The World's End was going to be a lot like Shawn of the Dead based on the trailers. I was very wrong.

You're drunk.

This qualy format is by far the best.

I do not miss tuning in for qualy only to watch dead air for 20 min, the backmarkers for the next 20, and the top teams in the last 5 min.

Caterham extend Renault engine deal for three years

Caterham will continue to use Renault engines for the next three seasons, the team has confirmed.

The extended deal will see Caterham running Renault's V6 turbo ***8216;Energy F1***8242; engine built to the new regulations which come into force next year.

Team principal Cyril Abiteboul said the extension of the team's Renault deal is "very good news for our F1 team and is a reflection of the deep bonds that have been created between our two businesses since 2011, particularly with the road car project we launched in 2012 between Caterham and Alpine, which is now at an advanced stage in development."

"When our F1 partnership began in 2011 we, as a young team, were immediately impressed by the various benefits of the collaboration on our operations, and since then we are relentlessly pushing them even further," he added.

"Given the age and status of our team we have also been pleased to see Renault Sport F1 adapting their operational practices to suit our size and optimising our integration with an enhanced technical collaboration. We work together in an open and honest manner to help Caterham F1 Team achieve its short-term goal of establishing itself as an integral part of F1 and to help Renault achieve the deserved recognition of its technical edge."

Renault Sport F1 president Jean-Michel Jalinier said: "From the very start our partnership has been comprehensive and it is therefore natural that we would want to see it pay dividends. We are very happy with the quality and depth of the teams we will supply and look forward to seeing the first generation of Energy F1-powered cars hit the track next year."

I love the way this quali is. Its so much more of a strategy. The knocking out system is great to watch as driver's always try to be the very last one to set a time and you can qualify 4th in q2 with 50 seconds to go and still get pumped off because everyone else are doing their quickest laps for that session. Thats was happened to hulkenberg yesterday.

Cycling - Euskaltel to fold after Alonso negotiations collapse
Team Euskaltel have announced they will fold at the end of the season, less than a month after Formula One driver Fernando Alonso had reached a principal agreement to take over the team's WorldTour licence

But those negotiations collapsed leaving the future of the team's 14 riders, who have contracts for next season, uncertain.

"The Euskaltel representatives cannot hide their disappointment at the outcome of the negotiation process," said the team in a press release.

"It is a sad day for Euskaltel and the team, after the expectations generated by the first agreement reached in late August and public statements made at the time by Fernando Alonso and his representatives.

"For Euskaltel it is sad news that a final agreement hasn't been reached after all the hope created by the tentative agreement.

"Euskaltel has devoted all its efforts to such an agreement, doing our part without any financial restrictions as opposed to what has been stated in the media."

The team distinctive for their bright orange kit had sought sponsorship after the Basque Government withdrew funding earlier in 2013.
Quote:
Deal with Basque team all but off the table

Spain's sporting media have reported on Monday that the discussion between Euskaltel and Fernando Alonso's negotiating teams over the purchase of the team is at a total standstill and the deal will now not take place.

After weeks during which the lifeline thrown to the Euskaltel-Euskadi team by Formula One star Alonso seemed to be the last-minute deal that would save one of Spain's two ProTour teams, one major hurdle - the purchase, or not, of the team's current infrastructure and longstanding staff contracts appears to have sunk the whole agreement.

"We'll keep on trying until the last moment, Fernando and his team are travelling back from [Sunday's] Grand Prix in Singapore right now, and we'll have to wait and see," Kiko García, who would have been the team's future manager, told Cyclingnews on Monday morning.

"But the whole situation has got really complicated. We'll have to wait until they get here and then we'll reach a decision."

García added that it is still possible that Alonso, who apparently has a major sponsor lined up and ready to invest in cycling, would create a ProContinental team instead.

However, other sources say that it would be equally conceivable that, just as happened in 2009 when Alonso first became interested in sponsoring a cycling team, that the whole project is shelved.

Either way, barring a last-minute breakthrough in the negotiations the chances are that Spanish cycling will lose a huge opportunity to create a team which might have opened up a whole new level of international sports media interest. And after months of uncertainty, following this latest development Euskaltel's 14 riders under contract for 2014 and in some cases in 2015 may well have even more limited opportunities to race in a top squad next season.

I remember back in the day when it wasn't like that. Given 12 timed runs (or was it laps?) that drivers would make the most of it and not just give themselves one shot. though I think you had a unlimited set of tyres available to you also..

12 laps. In laps and out laps counted. And all the top teams would wait in the garage til the very end. The last 10 minutes were exciting, but it made for a pretty boring session overall.

Could anyone tell me whether there was another time a driver (not senna and mansell) carried the other driver back into the pits? Was it last year or this year or something? I seem to recall Fernando getting a lift from webber or someone within the past year, maybe at silverstone? I cant remember!!!!! I remember he kept patting the guys helmet. and thinking, boy thats just like it was when mansell gave senna the ride back.

and now imagine my shock when webber hitches a ride with alonso, and boom penalty. i thought this just ocurred not too long ago.
