I'll give the movie a shot. I haven't been to the movie theater in awhile or I can just stay home and watch the Aryton Senna Documentary
BTW Does anyone know when the dates for next seasons race will be released? I want to see if I can plan a vacation around the same time the Australian GP is happening.

I think one of the best things about f1 is the unique and crazy engineering. How about limit the development budget/time/etc, but still allow for differences in design? Engineering should play 1/2 the role in any race IMO and driving the other 1/2. If I wanted spec races, I'd watch them. I watch racing for the same reason I watched lance armstrong. I love seeing someone get utterly beat. I hate it when another driver is defensively holding a position and another driver behind him could clearly over take and do better if not for that. I just want to see each team turn out their best possible times and witness the sheer speed of it all.

I think you guys missed my point..
I hate how its being billed as hollywoodesque F1 movie vs. just an F1 movie. basically I hate the marketing campaign and its turned me off. All the comments I've heard are amazing, but left to just the trailers...I wouldnt say its any better than Driven (the stallone movie from 12 years ago). |

I thought The World's End was going to be a lot like Shawn of the Dead based on the trailers. I was very wrong.

I thought they were only showing qualifying if the America's cup got canceled.

This qualy format is by far the best. I do not miss tuning in for qualy only to watch dead air for 20 min, the backmarkers for the next 20, and the top teams in the last 5 min. |

I love the way this quali is. Its so much more of a strategy. The knocking out system is great to watch as driver's always try to be the very last one to set a time and you can qualify 4th in q2 with 50 seconds to go and still get pumped off because everyone else are doing their quickest laps for that session. Thats was happened to hulkenberg yesterday.

I remember back in the day when it wasn't like that. Given 12 timed runs (or was it laps?) that drivers would make the most of it and not just give themselves one shot. though I think you had a unlimited set of tyres available to you also..

12 laps. In laps and out laps counted. And all the top teams would wait in the garage til the very end. The last 10 minutes were exciting, but it made for a pretty boring session overall.

Could anyone tell me whether there was another time a driver (not senna and mansell) carried the other driver back into the pits? Was it last year or this year or something? I seem to recall Fernando getting a lift from webber or someone within the past year, maybe at silverstone? I cant remember!!!!! I remember he kept patting the guys helmet. and thinking, boy thats just like it was when mansell gave senna the ride back.
and now imagine my shock when webber hitches a ride with alonso, and boom penalty. i thought this just ocurred not too long ago. |

hrmm I recall teams trying to race all 12 laps. but this early 2000s. also thought that tire availability wasn't restricted.
