Let me be the first to start off.

I've been doing some research over the past month or so looking for an EDC knife for under $100. The knife is not going to be used that much for anything REAL Rugged but I may like the option of having to take it out to the wilderness.

Right now I really have my eye on the SOG Aegis

The knife can also be had with their "Tanto" blade with serrations.

It can be had for around the $50-65 dollar range and reviews on it are very good, I'am currently looking to see if Benchmade has any knives similar (iam sure they do) and trying to decipher which one would be best for me.

Anyone have any recommendations? Kershaw? Spyderco?

I always carry my Kershaw ET. Every once in a while I'll carry my Kershaw Leek.

The next knife I buy is going to be from Cold Steel.

The Spyderco Dragonfly Stainless Steel/VG-10 blade has been my EDC of choice for over a year now.

I've been through a lot of knives, nothing has been more of a keeper and a perfect EDC for me.

Looks pretty good for a year of daily use too:

Size comparison, pretty compact:

I need an EDC, easy one thumb open, drop point folder, with 3-4" in blade length, good steel. Up to $100 is OK.

I was thinking about the KA-BAR/Dozier

Or any one of the Benchmade knives.. there are so many though. Are spring assists illegal in CA?

I've got my eye on the Osborne 940's..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j56oI6ndgiA

At almost $200, though, they're pricey.

Edit:

Ordered the Benchmade 940 from BladeHQ. $120. Not bad.

Default Yay! Knives! I heart kinvfes!

Weeeeee!

Ha ha! My EDC History ( as if anyone cares):
My EDC for about the last 5 years or so has been a Leatherman of some sort. Since last fall, a Skeletool. Before that, a 2nd gen Wave. Before that, and Charge XTi. And before that, a first gen wave that I bought on my honeymoon in '98.

Before the Leatherman era was the Victorinox Swiss Army knife (SAK) era. The camper preceeded the Leathermans, and a blue Tinker. SAK years were about 3 or 4 in number.

Before the SAK era, it was all Spyderco as far back as I can recall. I think a Navigator was the last one I carried. I carried an original Clipit Rescue while running with the FD (until some punk-ass stole it off my turnout gear ). I carried a first gen Native for a lot of the mid- to late-90s, and before that were a couple original Delicas. Cripes, in the early 90s, i remember having a Delica on my keychain, and getting on commercial airplanes with it! How things have changed....

I like knives. I like to use knives. Bushcraft/campcraft/woodcraft - whatever you choose to call it, it facinates me.

Stab, stab... Let's see some stabbiness!

It might be time for another Busse, since I sold my FFBM last year.

I think I might be consolidating in general, I have alot of knives that I just don't use that often. I'd rather sell some off and get a few really good pieces.

I got the serrated version of that 940 damn near 6 years ago, it has held up great and have thus far picked up about 6 other benchmades.

What do you think? I love it. The opening action is faster than most of the autos I have.

I need to send mine in to be honed by a professional because I fark'd up the blade trying to cut off one of those damn apparel security devices for my SO.

Don't laugh too hard...It was super cheap($15) and has never let me down. I usually only carry it when I can't carry my gun like at the office or sporting events. Also works pretty well when I am hunting.
