So I discussed this with the wife some more and I am getting it after all.

We're not going to use the inside-door dropoff unless we know we won't be around or it's a high dollar item, though. Most of the time this will just be useful as a keypad lock that has cloud access, and a random extra inside WiFi camera pointed at the front door.

Why do you want a keypad lock that has cloud access?

1) Access to home in case power goes out and garage opener/keypad thus do not work. (We never carry around physical front door keys since we're always in/out via the garage whether on bike or in car.)

2) Ability to let people in remotely or add codes remotely in case some trade needs access while we're away. Our house cleaners already come in through the garage using the keypad, but who knows what other things we'll outsource in the future.

You'll get your chance to return it after all.

I live in Sf. I have a giant glass window in the front door, and 3 other glass windows that someone can easily break into.

Plus bump keys and locks are easily picked.

Hacking the lock is just as painful as the above if someone wanted entry into my home.

Admittedly though, for me convenience is huge and I've been wanting a type of lock that would ring me (audio) or do video for about 3 years now.

Plus something like this also gives me peace of mind of having some monitoring and then knowing if my door is locked or not.

UPS gave us in house delivery 20 years ago - for free.

College house, we never locked the doors. Had two 5.1 home theaters, 5 PCs, 6 TVs, bikes, etc. Driver would leave packages inside our door all the time. Never had a single issue. But it was always the same driver & he was a nice guy. We BSed with him a few times & then he asked us if we wanted packages left inside.

So maybe get locks that are bump-proof and much harder to pick?

My garage doors have batteries in them so they work when the power is out... granted they open at half-speed, but I'm not getting locked out. Also, since they're cloud-enabled, I can use the garage door app to remotely let people into the house if necessary.

I've known several people including myself that have had packages stolen just in the past year. I've heard that some thieves will just follow the Amazon delivery vans around. I'm still not letting a delivery person in my house, though.

Amazon sent a picture of a package that they delivered to my house. Picture of the package on the ground by my front door.

Pretty cool I suppose. Confirms delivery.

GF had a package left with a snap of the door and package sitting there early last week. Later that week she had a second package that was not delivered because the carrier wasn't comfortable leaving the package and there was no secured area to place the package (****ty ghetto apartment building). Purty cool!

I pretty much lost my **** over a package delivery that had the picture proof of delivery deal.

Long story short after lots of back and forth with the wife and deciding someone stole the package, my wife finally took my advice of 'look errrrrwhere' and found the box on our backyard, second-level deck. The neighbors didn't want it to get stolen so they moved it. I was at work during the whole "its gone!!1!" exchange with my wife, I had even emailed my frustrations to amazon prior to the box being found, luckily they're webform messed up and wouldn't let me submit.

Anyone try out those Treasure Trucks? Buy something that's available on it and get it right away.

"Right away" being during the time window wherever the truck is parked.
They never park at a location and time convenient for me.

"The camera is very much something Amazon is relying on in pitching the security of this as a safe solution," says Ben Caudill, the founder of Rhino Security Labs, in an interview with Wired. His security firm discovered the attack and was able to demonstrate it. "Disabling that camera on command is a pretty powerful capability when you're talking about environments where you're relying heavily on that being a critical safety mechanism."

Amazon Key camera flaw could allow delivery people to enter your home unseen. Could "Freeze" camera and then re-enter the home

It was a really good price and for a change a stop was close by AND at a time that wouldn't stick me in traffic.
Then I realized I didn't want one.
