"questionable"? based on what? If you have some personal experience why don't you lay it out instead of being so mysterious?

hmm.. I'm looking at my DNA's right now, welds, springs, threads on bodies, perches etc.. They all look to be as good as the TEINS I've seen. Not as good as the OHLINS I've had a chance to handle (but that was a $2500 setup vs 999. so.... I would say that without tearing these down they appear to be of a good quality for the $$$. Going to install them today...We'll see how they stack up on the install y'all.

ok... Install of these was cake (thanks Hawke for your air tools, expertise and garage) Initial height in front (04 STi) was 14 7/8", in rear 13 5/8". After installation and a bit of adjustment front height was front 13 3/4. rear 12 1/2. The front camber (adjusted with a bubble gauge) is now 2.25 and the rears are about 1.8. (need to research to find how to adjust this
The car feels a bit low although I'm going to put some miles on it before I re-adjust. With our measuring tape we got a rough toe measurment in the rear at 1/16 appoximate toe out with as close to zero toe in the front. (The ALK we installed made the front a little tricky... lots of adjusting to get where we are now) SO. I would like to find a way to get a little less camber in the rear and the front is ok with me for now. Keep in mind this was done by us non-professionals with measuring tapes and armed minds on a level garage surface... IMPRESSIONS: Much better ride quality than stock. Very quiet. Set at 8 from soft both front and rear the stiffness is very good, no bobble head and no boing. In the pouring rain for the drive home with old struts and whatnot in the trunk it felt pretty good. Much less body roll even with the stock sways (new ones coming as soon as the Aussies get their act together) I hope to get a dry drive with nothing but my sub box in the trunk to see if the noise I heard on hard lefts was indeed the junk/boxes/tools in my trunk. Thought we heard a bit of rubbing on hard lefts. Other than that, these are very good so far. Must get another (REAL) drive for good impressions. Any opinions, feedback on my heights etc are certainly welcome.. Will update as I drive these a bit and they settle. Looking to get a good alignment later this week (If I can find the time and get some miles to settle these bad boys.) |

Just got back from a 600+ mile round-trip drive over the weekend and the DNA's preformed great. No noise, excelent handling and overall great feel. My camber is -2.5 ft. and -2 rear. To go much less than what you have in the rear would probably require camber bolts.

Yes, thats what we figured for the rears. So 600 miles huh. How long did it take for them to settle to final ride height? I assume you've had these for a bit. Just trying to ballpark how long i'll have to drive em before settling on an alignment. Thanks!

No, I put them on a couple of months ago and just started to drive the car. I now have around 700 miles total on them. The wrx is not my daily driver. They settle very quickly. I will usually drive 30 miles or so before getting an alignment.

Sweet, thanks. I need to raise the car now as i'm getting rub on culdesac turns. Then it's off to the rack for this boy. The STi is not a dd either but I just drove 50 miles on em. Aside from the minor rub on the "auto-x simulation" turns these are a great bang for the buck. Me like. Would recommend to others.

Hey guys, I'm considering these as a replacement for the (60K mi) stock shocks on my 04' wagon. There aren't too many choices availble for shock replacement, and these as an alternative to sti pink spring/koni strut combo seem to be a good deal.
Here's my question. Can you set the ride height and damping to be workable on dirt? Or are these the wrong solution if I drive on dirt at all? I want something that works better on the street, but the car does back road duty as well. |

These are definitly the wrong choice for dirt....very clearly they are street only.
If you plan back roads use, I'd stick with pinks/konis. |

Ok, good to know! The Whitelines and DMS 40's AFAIK hold up on dirt quite well, but they are a bit more than I'd spend on an occasional dirt car.

Lifted the car back to 1" below factory midpoint f + r, went to 7 from full soft in the front and 6 from full soft in the back and they are just about perfect for rough-ish road, fast use. Very pleased with these. A little tiny bit of noise on low speed parking lot turns. Might preload a bit more but I'm relectant to do so. Will leave them for now. Some coilovers make a bit of noise on that low speed stuff. They are silent at running speed so thats what really counts.
I would not see these being suitable for dirt at all. JM2C. |

I installed mine last week. Got the ride height set, set equal dampening 8 and 8. Drove it for around 200 miles, Readjusted ride height. They were a little low anyway and then settled. Ride height is good now. I don't remember the measurement but the top of the tires are about 1/2 inch below the edge of the wheel wells. Now to play with dampening, and camber, toe, and such. The toe and initial camber/caster settings will be adjuted thorugh an alignment, then i will play with the fronts via camber plates. I really like these a lot. Along with my cusco adj. RSB the car feels really planted. Can't wait for the auto x on april 8th and 9th here locally.
BTW, these are not as noisey(sp?) as my stock struts with 34k and tein h techs. Go figure. |

Now that you guys have had the coilovers for sometime what do you think of them. Has the quality been holding up. Also those of you who had a chance to use them on the track or auto-x what do you think of them now.
Thanks |

I think they are awesome......not only for the money, just a very well rounded coilover for someone mainly concerned with street driving with the occasional romp through the canyon or maybe on the track.
They are not as bouncy as some other cars ive been in, and they respond well to just a turn or two on the dampening. |

I am also enjoying these very much. Had them on for a month (one auto-x numerous mountain sessions.) For the $$ spent these are a great street setup. Fairly quiet, good "feel." Quite a bit more sensitive to the dampening adj. than I would have initially thought. Overall, I would recommend these to another person. Great street setup. Seemed to work well @ auto-x but I really need the swaybars I ordered now..

I just installed a set I ordered with 7K and 5k springs. I just posted some pics in the suspension forum. What are the coilovers set at from the factory (dampening wise). Also, do the adjustment knobs stop turning at a certain point, or do I have to make sure to count the clicks?

These coilovers have been on one of our WRXs here for over 35,000 miles and they're still preforming very well. You probably want a non-vendor's opinion though.
Thanks, Geoff |
